Hi everyone, I am an ex-longhair and long-ago poster here at the MLHH. I cut my hair several years ago (boo!), but have decided to grow it long again. I'm 54, and obviously have a more mature hairline now, but hoping it turns out well. I am about 5-6 months in to growing from a buzz cut, with a self-administered undercut around the holidays so the top could grow down to about my hears before earnestly starting to grow all the way around. I am posting link to a video of where I am now, and in the thread will post a couple other recent pics and a couple from when my hair was long. Any feedback and encouragement is most welcome as I am just about to enter the awkward stage in earnest. I am so glad this board still exists, and happy to see quite a few familiar faces from back in the day :) Philip

Measured it the other day and we are officially at 3ft of length! Hoping to grow it until it reaches a meter and then see what I want to do with it. It's probably never going to be shorter than this if I can help it.

Hi everyone
Ive been growing my hair for 4 years now. Ive gotten into a routine of just getting the ends trimmed every 2 to 3 months and that seems to keep my hair, healthy and growing. My goal is low back. It will probably take about another three years to achieve. I straightened my hair for this picture.

Hi all,
Maybe we could boost activity by us posting one or two of our hair photos that showcase our hair. These could perhaps serve as inspiration for the group. I'll post a couple from quite a few years ago. My hair is not currently as long as this.
I'll post a current hair photo at some point in the not too distant future.
Jason

Here is a back view of my hair, taken last Fall, during an outing with my friend Joe Myers, another longhair I am very close to.

You will find me towards the right of the group. Yes, still with long hair. We were all sailing small boats in Brittany and having a wonderful time.
Happy new year everyone,
Keep growing :)
May your hair stay long and healthty for 2026.
Does anyone have experience with Rogain?
After all these years of having long hair i've noticed some receeding hair line and balding spots.
I was looking at reviews of Rogain and one of the chief complaints is Rogain can lead to hair loss rather than hair gain.
I'm now 71 years old.

Thought I'd post a mkre recent picture that REALLY shows off the length of my hair! It got caught in my belt for the first time this week which was very exciting! I really am starting to need a trim to even put the ends, but I'll be getting professional headshots soon for work so gonna wait until then to trim it to one length. Still hoping to grow it to at least a meter before deciding at what length to settle! This is definitely my favorite length so far though.

Just as the title says! I've ben growing my hair for about 7 years. Here's a picture of it, and I have also linked a video I just posted talking about my long hair.
Men's Long Hair Growth Update - Almost 3 Feet!
Hi long hair guys
On June 21st, I went to an Aérotrain meeting with enthusiasts and took this photo like I did since 2021!
We suffered a heat wave, I went to this place in the afternoon, but I could only stay a few minutes because I started to feel sick due to the extreme heat. I quickly went in my car with AC. I always shot this photo at sunset when sun is just above the horizon. Thankfully, the temperature had gone down, it was bearable, and there was absolutely no wind to mess my hair.
I never had such long hair, but I have the impression that it doesn't grow longer. When wet, some reach my waist. Between the 2021 photo and this 2025 photo, I hadn't had any trim.
Photo taken on 20th June 2025.

Hi(gh)!
Still going strong, still going long!
See you in Khyberspace!

Hi,
On June 22th 2025, I had met Anthony. We have discussed shipbuilding, I had bring my shipbuilding lessons to show him. I spent two years learning shipbuilding in Saint-Nazaire (France), a city mainly known for its shipbuilding industry and shipyard "Chantiers de l'Atlantique" where famous ships had been built, like the Normandie, France, and Queen Mary 2; today they build very big cruise ships.
It was the day just after an extreme heat wave; this day was hot, but it was bearable. I also took some photos of Anthony with my film camera, a Hasselblad 500c, which is the same camera used on the Moon by astronauts from Apollo missions. I use black & white film that I develop myself and print photos in a darkroom.
Taking this photo was challenging due to the wind that messed up our hair, there was just a small breeze but it was enough. I had to take many photos until I had a good one, and between photos we rearranged our hair.
Reviewing the photos on "Long haired Legends" Instagram page, I find a great many guys with dreads whose hair is floor-length or longer. But guys with straight or curly (but non-dreads) are very scare indeed. I can only think of Hairfreaky and Danny Cecati. Does anyone know why floor-length or longer hair is so much more prevalent among guys with dreads? Perhaps it's easier to maintain dreads? Any ideas?
Windy day at the park!

Hey Yall
Ive finally reached my 3 year mark of growing it out. This past year I started using Nutrafol to help with growth as well as Hims minoxidil and finasteride to help with thinning at the top. Im looking forward to what kind of growth Ill see this next year! ☮️

In this picture, I have half of my hair at East, the other half at West, and the prime meridian (or Greenwich meridian) runs in the middle of my head!
I'm also located at the 45th North parallel, the intersection of the two lines is a singular geographic point. It's the center point of the Northern Hemisphere, and GPS coordinates are just 45°N 0°.
East is at left, West at right, North at bottom and South at top.
The story behind this photo is that I went to a fun fair for Easter in a city next to the prime meridian, and I got the idea to do a photo in the middle of the meridian, but I remember that there is the 45th parallel not so far, so I went to this specific point.
Thankfully, it's located next to a road. Aside from these signs, there is nothing here. It's located in the countryside next to a small road and a noisy highway.
First, I'm sorry to hear of Scott's passing. He did so much for the long hair community.
I've noticed a lot of guys are sporting two braids, or as we used to call them in days gone by, "Indian braids". I've also noticed on TIKTOK that a number of guys have found an interesting way of showcasing their beautiful long hair by braiding their hair in front, under the collar, as a necktie. Two I found are @egorgorbin and @Gregbatocabe. @buenalifeorg created a necktie from his long hair, but it is not braided. All of them look absolutely fantastic, and I am extremely jealous of them. Check them out.

Took a pic a couple of days ago, I was surprised, the last few from behind were not so great, I can live with this as I approach age 62 in September.

Greetings to all mlhh members and guests. It has come to my attention that a longtime member and fellow moderator has passed away around a month ago.Scott "Absalom" Nagel was a moderator and treasurer of the mlhh when I joined back around 2005.I had the honor to personally meet him during my many visits to California over the years. He was a down to earth nice guy who became a true friend.Over the years we have lost others here as its just the nature of time passing by.Scott was a great contributor to this site during his active years and will truly be missed by those that knew him. Now Scott has moved on to the afterlife leaving us all with memories of when the mlhh was really active before social media really took off.God speed to Scott as you will be missed but not forgotten. Thanks to everyone taking the time to read this tribute.

Wish all longhairs a merry X-mas and a hairgrowing happy new year

Heres a pic from the back

Hey All,
Ive made it to my 2-1/2 year mark. Im liking the texture as my hair gets longer and heavier. Ive gone from styling with mousse everyday to just putting a little leave in conditioner and letting it air dry. Next update in May will mark 3 years :)

Im turning 68 in a couple weeks. Havent posted in a long time. Really please my hair is still growing and still brown. The grey is just starting to show at the neckline. Can

Hi,
It's my everyday style: long hair and suit

Hey all,
Took this photo but forgot to post it -- taken about a month and a half ago. I think my hair is halfway down my back or a little more now... still hoping it will grow more though ;p !
Anywho, happy end to the year and cheers!

Me and my mop

Hi there, long time since posting, it's quiet here these days!
Good to see new people and a few of the old regulars, looking fantastic Joao David!
Just posting a rather bad phone pic I took today, hair is past belt length, been growing forever now this time round (almost 9 yrs) with a few trims on the way. Happy with how it is, I just self trim a little when I need/want, no hang ups about it. It's about as long as it can get with still looking OK in my opinion. I previously had it past belt length but it was very thin on the ends and I kept sitting on it which was actually annoying me a lot, plus some car door incidents when windy.
I had a youtube channel if anyone recognises me from that but I closed it recently, just got tired of all the google crud and people being rude or constantly asking for my contact details for what reason I don't know like it's their right or something. I'm getting too cranky and old for all that these days. So going old school and posting here instead where it all started for me in 2004! If anyone wants a chat you can now do it the old way, via email! I still don't have unsta or zip lock or xitler (I know what I mean..) or any of those things either and don't plan to get them. I have asked the users directory via the email in the FAQ's to please update so once that's done you can contact me that way for a normal conversation if you like :)
Take care all!

Hi,
On July I had participated in a meeting between Aerotrain enthusiasts and I took this photo like I did on previous years. It was also the weekend I meet Anthony.
It was just before the sunset, on July 5th, the sun was just above the horizon and gives this reddish light and this impression that my hair are red.
It's a place where I feel good. It's a vast landscape that gives you an impression of freedom, a place where a high speed train was tested and broke a world speed record.

Hi,
7th July 2024 I had met Anthony, another member of the MLHH. It was our second meeting, the first one was last year (http://mlhh.org/messages/328294.html) and it was a great day.
Thanks again the MLHH.
Hi guys,
I just ordered a supply of Nutrafol for men, hair growth supplement. Ive noticed my hair thinning a bit on the crown of my head. Has anyone else here tried this product? If so, have you noticed your hair growing a bit faster? Some claim this side effect in their review of the product.
Thanks
Kris

Hi all,
Well, here is my 18 month growth update. Sure do wish it was longer, but oh well. The color seems to slowly be going to gray. It used to be so much darker. But I like gray hair so no problem there. I can't wait to see what it looks like at 2 years. Onward and downward guys!

I couldn't find my old post so I thought I'd show a two year progression from the original

Hey Yall
Coming up on two years of straight growth with no trims

Is anybody else on here a gay longhair or do you know of any places for gay men with long hair? Also for reference, here's how long my hair is! Hoping to grow it down to my belt and, in a perfect world, maybe even longer. Cheers!
This is an article in French (right click on the text and choose the translation option) about a proposal for a law against capillary discrimination. There is no mention of long hair on men for being recruited into jobs. There is a mention of women and some of them feeling they had to change their hairstyle before a job interview. Hi,
Just a photo of me.
My hair is still growing and reach my waist when wet but looks shorter when dry. Waist length is my goal after twenty years of having hair at shoulder length.
What are your opinions of The Long Hairs and their products. I am not impressed myself.

Hi all,
I don't take photos like I used to, but decided to take one a couple of days ago to see where things are at... at least things (my hair) are still growing! Kind of a relief after a rather dry winter and fears of extra breakage due to it -o- .....
Anywho, I hope all are well and a happy early spring to everyone here :) !
Sincerely,
yoshiki ^_^

Still growing. I'm experimenting with a new look for my facial hair as well.

Greeting Fellow Longhairs !
I just wanted to say hello again since I havent posted on this board in awhile. Its been 5 years now since I decided that, Im a long haired man not a short haired man. Hopefully I will continue to be here more often than not . Cheers to you all on your long hair journeys!

Hi.
I haven't updated my long hair pics in years....but since I'll turn 65 this weekend, I thought I'd post a recent picture.
Enjoy the summer.
A.D.

Hey all I turned 60 in September and had a Quadruple Bypass in February but Im still here, going back to work in a couple of days.

Hi,
I'll try to post more often some pictures of me.
Happy New Year to all on the MLHH. My own hair is about the same - mid-back terminal length. I went to my neighbour's for some Galette des Rois and his daughter was fascinated by my hair! People here in France are generally discreet and polite.

Happy New Year everyone, a new year same old hair!

This weekend I met Anthony who is also a member of the MLHH.
We have common interests for ships/sailing and of course long hair!
Anthony is very friendly, and we have spent the afternoon to discuss ourselves and various topics. It was a great moment of conviviality.
But all this wouldn't have been possible without this website, so a big thanks to the creator who brings together long haired men.

Bit of an update.

Quick update not the best picture.

Hey yall, wanted to post my 18 month update. I just started being able to put it in a low ponytail. Does anyone use a kind of supplement to support hair growth such as DE or something else?

Hey, all. I've been away from here for so long that I can't even remember the name I last posted under, but I wanted to post a current photo since I valued having this community as a resource for many years.
My hair is juuuuust at waist length now following a trim of about four inches. I'm always open to having conversations, so feel free to drop me an e-mail at brightenedboy@gmail.com.

Hi,
This photo was taken on June 20, 2023. It was the weekend I had met Anthony: http://mlhh.org/messages/328294.html.
I took the same photo two years ago at the same place. But there was mud that prevents me to put the camera tripod at the same place in order to have the exact same picture.
Between the two pictures, I hadn't any trim. Hair have grown, but not as much as I expected.

62 and still growing - wonder for how long.

Hey all,
Im at 21 months of growth here with no trims. Im thinking of getting a small trim to clip split ends. My goal is knee length hair :)
Hello,
I was just curious if anyone had any new hair goals? I am currently maintaining the length I have now. I trim about every 6 months.
Darrin

Hello everyone
Wow, I am so impressed to both see new faces but also so many people still here from when I used to be around. That is incredible and it makes me happy.
I have been thinking about updating here with some news, and thought why not then, even if they partially leave me uneasy, but all in all can be of help to someone else.
When it comes to length, I have reached somewhat knee length in the past few months. Knee length happened sort of accidentally. I was dancing for a few years and I guess my hair was getting breakage, and since I stopped it resumed growing. I haven't trimmed it at all since the beginning of covid, which means a few years already, and it got to this length, which I thought was beyond terminal length for me. I will talk about the length later.
A bit over a year ago, I discovered a small, very defined spot in my head with no hair, at the crown. To say the least, I got extremely concerned and stressed. I scheduled with general dermatology right away, and had a very bad experience with a dismissive doctor that told me I was fine but would prescribe me both Finasteride and Minoxidil. I scheduled with a second doctor that barely looked at my scalp but told me I was fine also, and asked if I was taking female hormones because my hair looks like a woman's hair - which was weird to say the least.
I tried to calm down and let another year pass to see if the spot would fill up but it didn't. This year I scheduled with specialized hair clinics and have been to both, and the last one was the best - I did pay a lot of money for this particular appointment.
In this appointment they took a sample of my hair in advance, with root, to analyze in laboratory. The results were good - I don't seem to have any predisposition for male pattern baldness. However, the spot is there, and is scar tissue, but not from an injury I can remember. I will have to do further tests to see what might have caused it, but I was told it could very well be related to stress. It's not very normal to scar, but hopefully this is not something that will spread around. It's a spot the size of a small coin I would say, and it's covered, fortunately, by the upper layers of hair. It shows when I fully part my hair at the middle - as to do double braids for example. This makes me quite sad, but at the same time I'm grateful that it's not a hormonal situation. I will be taking steps to see if there is something else going on and if I need to do anything to protect the hair on my head of course. I do appreciate the difficulty of finding someone who will empathize with you, and for anyone looking for advice on this I strongly recommend a specialized doctor that deals with hair and skin, not just a general dermatologist.
When it comes to the length, I am strongly considering trimming back to about tailbone length, if not slightly above. The ends of my hair are extremely thin now and it makes it impossible to wear it loose at all. Even in a braid it gets cumbersome as the braid gets caught everywhere. I am very conflicted though - the main reason I want to trim is to feel I can USE my hair, live with it, wear it loose. I never really did that because of how protective I've been of it, to the point that I find wearing it loose extremely uncomfortable, just out of lack of habit. On the other hand, I am sometimes complimented by even strangers on how long my braid is. It makes me feel really good, but also knowing that now I am in what's considered an extreme length, and one I never thought I'd be in. It would take me about 4 years to grow back to this length from tailbone and I'm not really sure I would or even could, as I'm also getting older. I really only enjoy my hair when I am combing it in the morning though - otherwise even when I'm washing it just feels too long and thin in the ends. I miss having some fullness and feeling it's beautiful hair, right now it's super long yes, but I don't find that my hair type or the thickness in the ends makes for beautiful knee length hair.
So yes, I'm quite conflicted! But I think I will end up trimming since I think I prefer to be able to enjoy my hair more than having an extreme length, if I think what I'd regret more one day looking back if I didn't have long hair anymore. I find it really tough to trim at all let alone a complete change of length, because as we all know, we get attached to every hard earned inch of growth.
I am uploading a picture taken last July, if I'm not mistaken. My hair looks particularly nice there, I had just came back from swimming in the river and my hair had air dried to its most natural texture.
Thank you for reading me everyone. This forum will always be in my heart as a lot of people I've engaged with here. Believe it or not, I have been married not for two and a half years to someone who I've met through this forum.
So thank you for being here and beings yourselves and keeping this place alive!
Happy growing <3
I shaved my head on July 22 with no plans to regrow my hair. However, I decided to regrow my hair.,
Hello fellow long haired enthusiasts ! It has been a very long time since I posted on this forum. I joined when I was 34 and turned 43 this October. Life has a peculiar way of flying by insanely fast the older you get it seems. I have made it a mission to start my hair growth journey yet again after growing and cutting several times over the years. I am now a stay at home father helping my wife with her business, and feel no pressure of any sort to cut my hair again this time around. It has been about 10 months since I last cut my hair and I had a short buzz cut then. So glad to be back and am inspired to see so many people still posting their own personal journeys. RIP Ken in Sf and Bill :( Will add a photo in my next post very shortly. Thanks guys !

Greeting to all mlhh members and users both past and present. It was recently brought to my attention that a long time member, and hyperboard moderator, known originally as "Urban Cowboy" but currently as "Ken In SF" has past away and is no longer with us.It was a shocker when I was told of this.I have no details on the cause of his passing but for now it time to remember the good times we all had here when Ken was active on the board.I had the good fortune of not only working with Ken as a fellow moderator, in addition to sharing messages on the board, but having met with Ken on my many trips to California over the years.Attached is a photo taken of Ken and myself together during one of my west coast trips many years ago.I know many of you have likely interacted with Ken at some point especially if you were active since 2005.Ken always had a great attitude when interacting with visitors to this site as he truly will be missed by many. The hyperboard had its heyday back in the early 2000s but It's my intention to keep it alive as long as you guys want to be a part of the community. For know let's all remember Ken an what he's meant to so many who've entered this site. You will never be forgotten Ken.Thank you for taking the time to read my statement.

Hi, a quick update after a long time. Thank you. Lance

Hey all,
I'm not sure how long I've been going at the second run on growing out my hair now... years I know... but at least this time around I'm taking better care of it and I think it's been paying off :) . There was a MLHH user who emailed me a couple of days ago - about a photo I posted a couple of years ago back (when I admittedly used too much leave-in conditioner for that photo ~o~; ) and thought to myself -- hey, it's been a while ;p !... so to that user, thanks for that and the kind compliments as well ^^ !... it's been too long since my last post here :) . Anywho, hope everyone is doing fine and happy autumn here soon!
Cheers!
Sincerely,
yoshiki ^_^

This is my 15 month mark of growing with no trims. Curious question: I often drive my jeep with the top down letting the wind blow my hair everywhere. Is this bad for the ends?

Im 38. Enjoying my natural colour while I have it. What do you think?

Just one of those let it loose days
How are guys on this site handling hair loss?
Even though my hair is now all grey and is still long i'm noticing the effects of aging. The length isn't as long as it used to be, the ends aren't lasting as long they used to and the hair line is receeding.
Is there anything that will help the hair or is it better to bite the bullet and cut the hair?
I always said i would never cut my hair no matter how much hair loss i suffered, but now i'm not sure that is a good idea. I love having long hair but I hate how the hair looks now.
Can't believe this guy grew his beautiful Hawiian hair for 13 years and just up and decided to shave it all off with balding clippers. It is beyond my comprehension. 55 inches of gorgeous long hair gone in seconds. It gives me nightmares just thinking about it. Why on earth would someone do such a thing?
Watch his video, but be forewarned, it is disturbing.

Hi!
I haven't sent a picture in what seems like years. As I will be turning 65 this weekend, I thought I'd share a picture taken recently.

Just an update since my last post about 6 months ago. Coming along well ! Take care guys :)

First time poster. Ive been growing my hair for 1 year Im just getting out of the awkward stage. Looking forward to seeing how much growth I get throughout the summer

Hello all. I am new to posting on the board but have always checked out the progress of the guys on here.
I just turned 66 and am checking to see how I can improve on my hair. All suggestions are appreciated!!
Hi,
I've found this podcast about the MLHH.
They talk about the website and its topics for one hour. A post of mine are also in theirs comments and Erik's blog.
I warn you they laugh every ten seconds it's very annoying.
Hi,
I heard this on the radio: there is currently an exhibition about hair in Paris named "Des cheveux et des poils" (hair & hairs). It was an interview of the director of the exhibition, who says it's the first exhibition of this kind about hair.
It's not dedicated to long haired men, but hair & hairs in general on men and women. It explores various things: hairstyles through history, hair in society, artists who use hair. Hair related stuff: professions, old objects, tools.
They seem to haven't explored Internet and its long haired men communities; It could have been fun if they talk about the MLHH!
You can read the description on the official website of the exhibition (in English):

Hey all, Been a few years since I wandered by. Unfortunately I am losing my hair on the top. Over 70 now and I guess thats what you get when you get older. It is disturbing to cut my hair as I have had long hair for years. A beard also, which pays the bills at Christmas Time, ho ho ho.
Just want some opinons on cutting off me hair. Have other done a do it yourself cut? Would you just leave it till your croak? What do you think?
Thanks for any input....Onslow
You may have seen these two guys already, but in case you haven't, you really should take a look at their many TIKTOK videos. Both of these guys have the most beautiful knee length hair you'll see anywhere. I praise both of them, and I hope they continue growing their gorgeous manes.

You may have heard about the ChatGPT AI lately, this advanced AI that make news headlines.
On Reddit there is a simulated discussion with AI generated posts only, and it asks "How do you keep your hair from growing faster?" and says that it is growing its hair but wants to prevent them to grow too fast. There are some contradictions, but don't forget that it's a computer program.
The discussion is about hair care, and it's here: https://www.reddit.com/r/SubSimulatorGPT2/comments/zrs12g/how_do_you_keep_your_hair_from_growing_faster/
Explanation of how it works: https://www.reddit.com/r/SubSimulatorGPT2/
Subsidiary question: is ChatGPT a man or a woman?
Hi all, have not posted in ages but I do drop in from time to time, good to see some new people and some old members as well.
It's nearly 5 yrs since my last cut now, sitting just on belt length. Someone at the shops today told me they couldn't believe it took under 5 yrs to grow this long today but it's true. I guess I'm lucky with the hair genes and lucky it's still growing well at 45.
Hopefully the photobucket link works.
Hope everyone is staying safe,
Cheers,
Matt.

Hi, I thought I would post a picture of my hair when dry. Thanks. Lance

Hi guys,
I reached 11 years this year and I made a short video. I mainly trim all the length I gained in the past year x) But I really want to improve the ends and thickness and I think the difference kind of shows. I enjoy having long hair and I'm grateful that people accept me with long hair and support me online and in real life.
The 10 year update was from 2021, I only posted it recently.
I hope you are well!
Best,
PhilipZ

Hi Guys, apologies I have been absent for awhile. I am moving to Sydney from Cape Town in South Africa. I will be looking for a job in Sydney as an urban designer/ architect. I will also look for jobs anywhere in Australia. I will take whatever opportunities come my way. I am 59 years, so that could count against me. Plus being a newcomer. Currently, I have been working for myself, so my hair hasn't been an issue. I have been growing it out for more than 10 years I think. Its slow progress, but I think still growing. My dilemma has been if I should cut it for the job search in Australia or not. I have decided not to cut it. Just neaten it up a bit (trim the ragged ends) and then tie it back. Also, dress very neatly. But, continue to grow it. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you. Lance
Website of my architectural work. Also painting and sketching. So I've had hip length hair for some time now- started growing it out around age 20 and I'm turning 25 very soon. In the past few months though I've been seeing my hairline recede, currently sitting around a Norwood 2 but I think it will progress further. This was not entirely unexpected since my mom's dad and brothers both balded, but still sucks.
I guess the reason I'm posting- what do I even do now? Many of you can probably relate to me on that long hair carries special meaning for you, and that it is an integral part of your identity and confidence (it certainly is for me). I put a lot of time and love into my hair because I really love having it long, and cutting it off would just devastate me- almost like losing someone close to you, in a way. But at the same time there is no way to prevent balding from taking its course, and I don't really have an option.
It just feels so cruel to me that something I love so dearly is being taken away from me. It's hard for me not to get depressed when I go out in public and see other people (usually women, who are very lucky in that they don't have to deal with balding) with hair the same length as me, but without the Norwood 2... it feels so unfair. I know that life is meant to be unfair but this is just something I never thought I'd have to experience. Growing my hair long gave me so much confidence in my life because I really do love how it looks on me. I can't let go of it now... if I was older (maybe 40/50ish) I would probably be more willing to part but at this age feels cruel.
Thanks for reading and being supportive. I hope none of you have to go through what I am going through, nobody deserves this.
Hi,
I open this thread to share our tricks to stay cool with long hair when temperatures rising.
Where I live (Bordeaux in France) I suffer from extreme heat since June, it breaks all records! The city
streets (with of course a lot of concrete!) becomes the hell on Earth with temperatures of 40 - 45°C (104 - 113°F) for several days. Luckily I live in the countryside which are cooler than the city, but I work in the city.
Here is what I'm doing to avoid overheat:
- No loose hair. It's the worst thing to do when temperatures are hot. Hair cover most of your head, and they are an insulation that prevents your head to evacuate heat.
- Ponytail. I find that's not optimal because it covers the back of your head. Moreover, hair is in contact with sweat, which isn't good for hair.
- Braid. Hair doesn't touch too much the back of your head, and it's thinner than a ponytail, so the back of your head can evacuate heat efficiently.
- Bun. I think that's the best solution. Hair doesn't touch any part of your head except the scalp of course. But I never succeed to do a beautiful one.
- Water spray can also help to chill you, but if hydrometry is high it's inefficient and even worse!
If you have any tricks, share it!

Hey all,
It's been a while. Was riding my motorcycle out in the sandhills of Nebraska this last weekend when an older lady behind the counter at a COOP gas station had a fascination with my hair. Also been getting a lot of comments online from folks recently. I never show my face on the www, so most of the photos on the web are from behind (or with my face obscured). They (the online folks) have begun to argue with me that I'm a lady -- when I'm not... so that got me to wondering where things stood on "the journey" (hair growing journey) as of late. Been half a year or so since I've taken a real photo like this one here (attached)... so here it is ;p . Was pretty surprised to see that the length has finally hit mid-back -- which is a new milestone for me :) ... guess taking better of my hair does pay off in the long run xD .....
Anywho, hope all of you are well, groovin' along in life and are enjoying this new renaissance of long-haired guys that I/we see all the time now ^_^ . Guess that we've all been men of long-haired pioneers - est. since the late '80s hahah (depending on age, fashion and period at time... some fashions a lot more short-lived than others and the late '80s - at least for me, seems like the real last time when short hair was a big mainstay, really ^_~ .....)~
Sincerely,
yoshiki :)
This Asian guy has the most beautiful hair that just about reaches his knees. Check out his YouTube videos. His name is Masashi Yokono or 横野真史. Just google either, but 横野真史 seems to have more videos.

I was just minding my own business at work, when the girls jumped me and gave me a braid 🤣

here i am with a almost a 3 yr gap between
hair cuts. apr'18 to
i cant wait to get my ponytail back.

Hi,
Yesterday I went to barber shop for my beard. I haven't trim it for one year and a half. I was hoping to have a nice beard, but I don't have a very dense beard.
Hair is still growing, the tip of my ponytail start to reach my waist.
During the Bordeaux (France) fun fair, I noticed an increasing of long haired man. I also had noticed the same thing during the previous fair in October 2021. In the crowd, long haired men are quite common, and it's a matter of seconds to see one.
The most common hairstyle is the bun or top knot, with some variations like undercut. Others have loose hair or a classic ponytail.
Most of them have shoulders length hair and few have them longer than that. I haven't seen someone with longer hair than me.
I also notice the same trend in ads and various illustrations pictures (magazines, websites) it's not rare to see a man with long hair or a bun.
I don't know what is the trend in other countries, but it seems that men with long hair is becoming something normal.

Hi everyone,
I have a video from the 10 year mark (last year in June) and I thought it would be cool to share it. I had my last hair cut in 2011 and I think that I found this forum back in 2008, 2009, doing research about hair care and getting inspiration. And now I have butt length hair and posting about it here feels surreal, haha :D
The length hasn't changed much. I have to trim a lot in the past 2 -3 years. Also, maybe I'm approaching terminal length.
Best wishes to you!
Phil

Hello,
I found the time to upload a recording I made in October 2020. It was autumn, it was a nice day, I'm glad I went out, because 1 week later, most of the leaves were fallen down :D
I hope you're all well! Keep it growing
Cheers,
Phil

Im having a hard time deciding what my goal length should be. Here, 3 more inches, 6 inches? What do you think?

I have been at terminal length for some time, but I have found a way to take good photos. I have a web cam on a tripod and I can do a rear-view selfie like that. It's in a bit of a mess, but that's how I am. Anthony
ᎣᏏᏲ! Greetings! I am back at the 3 year mark of regrowing my hair out (again). I cut my hair because I was around modern Native Americans and they were thrown off a bit by the hair. Apparently missionaries divided tribes and told the converts to the white man's religion not to associate with traditional people. Traditional people have long full hair in some tribes. I am planning on growing it to terminal length. It is long enough that it is again past my chest. I am not sure what length it will end up being. In my culture men can have long hair. It is not considered effeminate. So, on-wards and downwards. Hope all are well. Let me know how y'all are doing and ask any questions you might have. I am fairly open about my culture.

Hi all. It's been a very long time since I've been here. I was a small part of this community around 2008-2011, at which time I grew my hair out to nearly hip length. My life circumstances changed and there came a point where being a longhair felt more like a chore than part of my identity, so I ended up cutting it short in 2012. I was happy with the results and have kept it that way since. However, I look back fondly on my longhair days and for no particular reason today decided to see what's going on at the MLHH. It's good to see it is still here and looks exactly the way I remember from over a decade ago.
I was sorry to see that Bill passed away some years ago. It seems that Hairball may be the only one from that time who is still here. I included a few old pictures of my hair in the hopes that it might jog some memories. It was nostalgic for me to peruse the users' directory and see some familiar faces like Absalom, DavidN, Ken in SF, Nuttidave, Justin, and Joao David.
Looking back, my longhair journey was a transformative period for me as a young adult, and I feel as though I grew just as much on the inside of my head as on the outside. I learned a lot about acceptance and tolerance, and although I am now a mere 30-year-old shorthair, I have not forgotten the kind and helpful folks I encountered here during those years. To think that a small community in a quiet little corner of the internet could have made such a lasting impression on me!
I extend my gratitude to the MLHH and hope it continues to be a place where longhairs from all walks of life can get advice and be part of a community. My best wishes to all of you.
Hail from the Great White North,
Peter

Hey guys! Just wondering who's all around the DC area? Would love to meet some fellow longhairs!
Also I should probably share what my hair looks like lol. This is the length it was aroubd 2-4 months before it was (forcibly) cut back to my shoulders (If you want to ask specifics, I'm an open book). Goal length is still waist length or longer.
Has anyone experienced thinner hair since Covid? I feel like my hair has gotten thinner.
Darrin

I've actually only had one haircut in the past 8 1/2 years, but that was about three years ago when I donated it to Wigs for Kids. Never really intended to grow it out again, but am glad I did. I've had several trims and need another, but hope to get to waist length before the next one, then keep it there until the ends thicken up a bit. Then who knows? I just turned 50 so hopefully I have a few more years until it hits terminal length!
I thought I would post a progress report.
My hair is still long, a couple inches below
nipple length. At age 67 the hair is all grey, there is some receeding of the hair line, and the hair seems to have thinned out. At this point I don't know how long i will be able to
keep the long hair long. I also stopped shaving and grew a beard.
On the personal side i'm still with the company that i've been
working for 37 years. As I've mentioned previously my wife of 34 years died of COVID a year ago,my father in law died of COVID three months earlier.
I'm still in the civil war group although our department commander died of COVID last year.
I'm still involved with our local science fiction groups.
Triped over this on the internet. Oh the memories..
Memories of times past
Hi all,
Havent had a trim for 8 months. Do you think I should trim or keep growing? Thanks for being here.

MLHH turned 25 today!
The very first message was posted on January 22nd 1997. A so long longevity for a community website is not common.
I wish a long life to the MLHH.
I wish also thanks this website for existing because I had found a supporting community who are like me and I don't feel alone with my long hair.

Happy Southern Hemisphere Spring to everybody! (Which means: to those of us like me that live in the Northern Hemisphere, "Happy Fall!")
These pics of me outside of my deer fenced rose garden that I take care of at work were taken in May of 2014, I think... My friend Bill Choisser was still alive at the time, and it was a gorgeous spring day when he and his partner Larry visited me where I work (in San Francisco's suburban East Bay town of Castro Valley).
Growing on the entranceway arch above my head is the beautiful apricot-colored French Noisette rose, "Crepuscule", along with the purple Clematis vine 'Polish Spirit'. Besides growing a lot of fragrant Heirloom and English (AKA David Austin) roses inside, I'm also very fond of various companion plants, like: Lavender, Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea), Salvias, Penstemon, and earlier in the spring, lots of Narcissus (Daffodils)...
Of course, it should go without saying that LONG HAIR always fits in perfectly in any garden or outdoor setting (LOL)!!

Hey all,
An update photo on my hair. Getting longer... maybe getting longer... still growing, at least. Anywho, happy holidays friends and onto a hopefully better 2022 :) .
Sincerely,
yoshiki ^_^
Hi!! Posting here after three years. In my last post I mentioned that due to a head injury in an accident my waist length hair had had to regretfully be cut back to shoulder length due to the messy tangle it had got into. I am really grateful to Jin and others for their sympathy and advice. I am happy to report that, with patient growth, resisting suggestions by many that I look better with shorter hair etc, and regular applications of oil, my hair is now almost to my waist again.
Thanks everybody on this board for your wonderful support and encouragement.
I wish you all a happy Christmas and the courage to live through these difficult days with joy and optimism. I continue to sport my long white locks! I have also grown a beard! :)
I invite those of you, if you want, to see my little Christmas service on YouTube with organ pieces by Bach https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95T5W0PXZA8

I have not posted to this board in almost ten years! I am still here in New Jersey. Glad to see some old members still here. My hair is now down to my crotch and I love it.

Hair conditioner/ shower once per week. Before shower, brush out hair. Shampoo and rinse twice. Add gobs of conditioner. Let set/ dry for half hour, leave shower. Reenter to rinse excess conditioner. Bush out with course plastic comb. Let hair dry out, then use a course hair brush. Let dry out more, then use a fine hair brush. Should come out silk smooth. Add leave in conditioner in mornings. Brush out with course, then fine comb/ brush.
Go to hair salon every four months. They trim off tangles and split ends. Balance or even out hair style.

Hi, I lost my hair at a young age but I like having hair so I wear a hairpiece. I always wanted longer hair but since my own was thin I never could. But I got the nerve to buy a full cap hairpiece with really long hair. but I'm not sure if it looks ok. I know it's too thick on the sides but if I do get another someday I would get less density. I found this site and hope it's not to odd to ask what you guys think.. I haven't been wearing it because its warm in the summer and I started to felt like maybe I look fake or too old to have it like this. I just turned 50. I am just curious if you think it looks natural or is it too long. I really became infatuated with the idea of having a ponytail.

Sounds like another good reason to keep your long hair.

Thoughts?
Anyone else have an issue, with their hair growing uneven on one side? My left side grows faster than my right side.
Hey all,
Avi here. I just wanted to let everyone know that I'd cut my hair. The main reason was pressure from my parents to do so- I'm 20 but still live with them(although I go to university for about half the year). I wish I didn't cut it, but I intend to grow it back whenever I move out. I'm really sad because I put in three years of hard work into growing it out, but alas I had to let it go. On the bright side I did almost reach my goal of classic length before I cut it off. My hope is that very soon I can start growing it out again, and this time stick it out all the way till it's at classic length- the ultimate goal is to my knees after that. I have to say I do like my look with short hair, but it doesn't hold a candle to the joy I felt when my hair was long. I guess I will have to wait the three years now, for it to come back :( Crazy to think I'll be 23 at that point!

I want to say I really appreciate everyone's support on the hyperboard, without y'all I probably would have never had the courage to even grow it out in the first place. I will continue posting on here as I grow out my hair again. Y'all are the best- thank you so much.
Regards,
Avi

Got a little bit of a trim, but still critical....but no grey yet,lol
I found this show, which is a comedy series where all men have long hair. I don't know if it's well known.
This show is described as a comedy about absurd business speaking and culture.
I hadn't found the reason why the authors have put long hair to theirs characters.
When I watched the video for the first time, I found this strange because I'm not used to see so many longhairs at the same place. Imagine that in the real world everyone has long hair, wasn't it our dream in this board?
There are some extracts on YouTube.

Hello everyone,
I haven't cut my hair since 1978, and my hair was past my shoulders, in 1979, (When I cut it last, it was what I call mid length, almost to the shoulers).
In 1979, long hair was considered out of fashion, as mid ear was the maximum length in TV land, however older college students may still hold on to early to mid seventies styles.
I had my first job in 1981, despite the fact that my job councelor in college wanted me to cut my hair to better my chances. I was in and out of unemployment during my more unstable period of the seventies, where I traveled and attended Rainbow Gatherings, in that time when I was "find myself".
The nineties, came a period of more selflessness as I got more involved in the cause of adults on the autism spectrum. I volunteered some weekends at a camp for people on the spectrum, as I worked on week days.
In the 2000's I continued giving time to the cause, giving talks, and participitating in a fundraiser called Swim for Hope, in New York City.
In the times I was involved, I never cut my hair because "I was doing something" with my life. I always refused to cave in to social pressures. The only change in my hair is the greying, and some thinning due to age.
These days, I had to done down my social implications, as with age, I tire easily, and need my energy to keep working at my job, and I hope, when I retire soon, I will start again.

See you in Khyberspace!

Hey guys!
I'm recently back from my honeymoon where I took this quick progress picture. My hair seems to be solid past classic. I'm aiming for fingertip length, hopefully towards the end of the year =) I'm so curious to know how far I can take it! I have split ends but I'm trying not to think much about it. I may do a bit of individual snipping eventually, but I'm finding that benign neglect goes a long way!
Fun fact: I recently got married to my boyfriend of 8 years, who I met when I was 18 through this very hyperboard! <3
I hope everyone is doing well =) Good to see this board active! Hugs ^^

I'll be 59 soon, had my hair trimmed a bit a few months ago, I've been at critical length for a while now....but still no gray in my hair, lol

Hey all,
Here's a photo from about a half a month ago... still trying to grow it down ;p . Hope all is well and happy summer -- continuing on into happier days ahead ^^ !!! ^_^

Hey fellow longhairs. I posted here off and on during 2004-2006, my first attempt at long hair. I'm at a place in life where I can give it another shot, namely a job that allows it and a wife that loves it! I just so happened to think of this board the other day and sure enough, it's still here and I recognize a few names.
I'm just over 3 years in. I've had a few trims, including a rather drastic one early on. My hair grows fairly slow. Another 6-8 inches would be nice. I hope I get there.
Lynyrd Skynyrd inspiration for their name.

This photo was taken this evening just minutes before the sunset. That's why my hair seems red dyed.

Hey guys! It's been awhile!
I wanted to post a video I just made about my hair growth progress. It's obviously not as long as a lot of other guys' hair in this community, but it's getting somewhere, at least!
Hopefully my hair will be down to my belly button or even down to my waist by the time I finish grad school (Spring 2023). Please let me know if you have any questions, either here or elsewhere! Thanks!

Hi all, I have a new appreciation for all of you longhairs this seems like it is taking forever Im now at about 18 months. Going to work toward two years now.

Hi guys. First time posting. Want to really grow it out this time and not cut it. Today Im at one year with only a tiny trim. Cant believe I made it. Now six more months then I will see where it goes.
Lockdown has brought in a new trend in the UK. Men have been forced to forgo haircuts during lockdown - and they like the look!
Damon
Guardian UKHi,
Google have a tool called "trends" to show how a query evolve over time since 2004. I entered "men long hair" and the result is that this query is in constant increasing.
This just show that more and more people search for "men long hair" on Google, and we can hope that one day long haired men become something normal.
Google trends ''men long hair''Hi,
I just saw in Android 11 there is an emoji that represents a man with long hair and beard. This bearded men emoji were existing before but with only short hair. Prior to this addition all male emojis had short hair while female emoji could be chosen with long or short hair.
Display may not be implemented on your operating system, so you have to wait for an upgrade. In Windows 10 version 20H2 it doesn't work.
I don't know if the hyperboard can display emoji, so I don't put it here.

Hey all,
Here's hoping that everyone is well and that this spring will bring in a year anew... or at least a better one from last ;) .
I think the last photo I posted was in early December, after a good trim... this one here (attached) was taken days ago.
Truthfully, I wasn't paying much attention to my hair during this period and had thought it had stopped growing, but -- aah, really surprised myself after my wife snapped a photo xD . I wish I had measured my length during all this time (never have kept track)... man does it looks like it went through a bit of a growth spirt though ;p . In the photo, my hair does look a bit greasy - and it is... accidentally used too much leave in conditioner the night before... but oh well, it comes out pretty after a good wash ;p .
Anywho, best wishes to all my old (& new) friends here and here's to a better future for all soon, hopefully ^_^ !!!
Cheers ^^ !
Sincerely,
yoshiki :)

I've pretty much experimented with long hair as far as it will go. I never achieved terminal length but did grow it to belt length at one point. Now I keep it somewhat shorter.
A couple of months ago I decided to try something new - growing out my beard. I know a few members here have tried this. So far I'm liking it. Although I'm curious about its potential terminal length, I don't think I'd ever grow it that long but we'll see.
Here it is at around 2 months of growth.
Jason

Hey my longhair brothers! Man, its been a long time since I last posted here. Well over a decade. Ive been wanting to post here again for quite some time. I first joined this board back in 2006 when I was about 15 months into one of my grows. People here inspired me to keep growing my hair at a time when the awkward stage was driving me mad. After a while I went into lurker mode where Ive stayed. I'm not a social media person nor post to message boards. This place has a special place in my heart, though. I'm embarking on another grow-out and felt it was time to participate again.
In the summer of 2010 I cut my long hair after growing for 5 years and only came here maybe a few times a year at most to read some posts. The past decade Ive attempted to grow my hair out again a couple times, but life would happen such as getting new jobs and Id cut it. I actually grew my hair out for 20 months between 2018-2020, but ended up cutting it last August since I lost my job and needed to look for another one. Enough hairs wouldnt reach my ponytail and I didnt want the state of my hair to prevent me from getting a job. For this cut I used my old clippers and gave myself a buzz down to 1 inch. I thought of you, Ken (in SF), and your Y2K buzz when I did this...ha! This is where I began when I grew my hair starting in 2005. That time I went 43 months before I got my first trim to even the length all around. That was actually the funnest grow I ever did...buzzing it and just letting it grow naturally for a few years+. This last grow I trimmed the sides and back at about 4 months in because I wasnt planning on growing it long. Ultimately, I ended up letting it grow. What can I say...I don't like haircuts! I didnt really like how it grew after the trim and wasnt too upset when I buzzed it off. Currently, Ive got just over 5 months of growth from the buzz and really want to let it grow out naturally again without trims. Im still in-between jobs, but am hoping I land something soon before my hair starts to get really crazy (cowlicks...argh!!). The jobs Im applying for should be longhair friendly, so Im hopeful that growing my hair out wont be a problem. I just dont look forward to wearing hats everyday again during the awkward phase. But, its what will have to happen and its not forever.
Anyway, its good to see some of you old-timers still around. Ken, Hairball, DavidN, Jason, nuttidave, MarkS and others. Very cool! I hope youre all doing good! I was bummed when I read that Bill passed away, though. I miss that guy and his awesome pictures and travel stories. Ive enjoyed seeing all the progress pictures, etc. Ive seen from the rest of you on this board. Im glad to see mens longhair is still happening. And, I look forward to being a LONG hair again, myself. Im really glad the MLHH board has stuck around. The activity seems to have slowed down some compared to years ago. Still, Im glad the board is still going. I was 33 when I first joined. Im turning 48 this Spring. Crazy. Ive posted a picture showing where my hair was a few months before I cut it in 2010. Id like to get back to that length again. Its the longest Ive ever had my hair. The picture on the right was back in September a month after buzzing it. Ill post some updates as the growth continues. Well, thanks for reading and good luck to everyone on your journey to longhairdom. I hope everybody is doing good and staying safe out there.
Till next time...
~Gman

Some of you may remember a post from a few months ago - posting a photo of my hair growth journey, prompted by COVID lockdowns. Below are some photo updates.

Hi,
Most of you share your hair growth journey on this board. For me, it was more than twenty years ago and what's incredible is that this board already exists.
So I searched for photos of me when I was growing my hair. All photos were taken with a film camera because despite digital cameras exists in this time they were very expensive and had poor performances.
A few years ago I digitalized near 8000 stills from negatives, took me two years, and surprisingly I didn't find so many photos of me during this period. Of course, we didn't take photos all the time like we do now.

Ken in SF InterviewHi(gh)!
I just started rummaging the Internet Wayback Machine for ancient memories from a quarter-century worth of digital delirium ;-)... and as one has to type in the URL of the desired page (the keyword search does not work so well), I would like to know again the URL of "Gay and Bi Longhairs on the Internet"... I vaguely remember that it was a Geocities site, with no domain name proper, but just a subdirectory... does anyone around still know the full URL?
See you in Khyberspace!

Hello,
it's been a while since I last posted. Here is a photo from my 9 year and 3 month mark. Hope you are all well and all the best for 2021.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iveetQ2IGmA - (video)Many of you may remember Dale Manzano and his beautiful below-the-knee-length hair. He's still around, but under a different name now. He goes by Clark Manhattan and you can find his Instagram photos at @c-manhattan.
Hi,
Do you have a nickname related to your long hair?
Do people give you a nickname because you have long hair? Are these nickname positive or negative?
I think I don't need to explain why my nickname is "Jesus". For full explanation go to the post given in link.

Hey there,
I used to post a lot, been a while so I thought I'd give an update on my current progress, i posted a few months back but thought it only fair to now have a pic including my face too ha ha. It's been over 5 yrs of growing now and I'm happy with the length it's at, sitting on belt length which is what can happen if you just forget about it and let it grow. The last few inches are getting thinner but don't really care, might do a little trim at some point if it starts to bother me but it would be nothing drastic, at this point in my life I am finally comfortable with being a longhair.
Stay safe all!
MattT.

Here I am, approaching 3 and a half years of hair growth! I actually wrote a little blog about it if you guys wanna check it out! Long locks forever! (Thanks for letting me steal the saying, Ken, haha!)
Hello everyone!
I don't really post much anymore however I'm an oldie on the forum and some will remember me I guess ^^
Last year I decided to go a full year without trims to see what my hair would do. I also started using different hair products and internalized a peaceful benign neglect point of view towards my hair while also oiling it more often.
Now that the new year started I was supposed to get a little trim, especially since I was already aware my hair had grown a bit longer than classic length so my plan I guess was to then maintain it there for a while. But I realized - it actually grew perhaps a solid two inches past classic! And although I am far from happy with my ends as far as thickness goes, I am definitely not unhappy with the health of my hair. The frequent oiling has definitely helped the condition overall and also some of the thickness has travelled down. I remember my hair used to be transparent from waist down, and now it's full all the way to tailbone length (which is actually a favourite length of mine).
As such, I have decided to try on another year with no trims. Perhaps I will meet my terminal length, or even better, I will creep closer to knee length, which was my original, albeit fantasy, goal. We will see, but it is exciting! I have definitely been getting more comments on my hair, even always wearing it in a braid, but mostly people comment on how long it is and they tell me it looks very healthy so this has to be a good sign =)
I just thought I'd leave this small update. I don't really photograph my hair anymore as I'm never happy with it in pictures but I have to take one for the record, as it's never been longer than this! For a short term goal, here's to fingertip length!
Thank you for reading me! Happy growing everyone!

Hello,
I managed to make another post. Here is my 8 years and 10 month update. The recording is from April 2020. I like that it is so long, a ponytail can cover the thin ends ;)
Here is an image and a link to the video.
I hope you are all well and healthy!
Cheers,
Phil
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-fTb9C2Ihw - 8 years 10 month videoHello
I search for a ponytail holder like the ones we can see on Highlander TV series wore by the main actor. They're also shown on "On Being a Longhair".
I had found the officials seen on TV series for sale on eBay, but I also discovered that it's just an elastic with a piece of metal. I thought that was a hair clip.
The big problem are that elastic is non-replaceable being held by a bent piece of metal. Of course, it could be replaced, but you know that when you bent metal over and over again it finished to breaking due to fatigue, so replacements are limited.
I had searched on the internet, but I found mostly stuff for women. I want something more for men, I like the ones with Celtics patterns, ideally made with silver.
Do you know websites where we can buy this (and ship in France) ?

Hi! During COVID I decided to start growing out my hair. Something Ive been wanting to do for many years. How long should I go?
Hey guys! I just wanted to reach out again and ask a quick question.
So as a born longhair myself, I've gotten extremely tired of the way we're treated and stigmatized in our societies. I want this stigma to end, and as a result, I'm planning on starting a blog that is geared specifically towards born longhairs. I want to educate the public by providing information and interviewing as many born longhairs as possible. Would any of you be interested in that? I have not made the blog yet, but I plan on working on that today. If you are interested or have any questions, please respond to this thread or email me at themanestreamer@gmail.com. Thank you guys for continuing to be an incredible community!
Hey all- glad to see everyone here well. I just finished up another semester of college and things are going well. Seems like my hair has been growing consistently all the while as well which is awesome!
I was wondering, does hair ever just randomly stop growing, for dietary or stress related reasons? Obviously when you hit terminal length it stops, but other than that, does it ever just stop growing? I'm trying to track my hair growth progress and how much it will grow in future and obviously things like this will impact my predictions. I've also heard that hair stops growing if its damaged and constantly breaking off at the ends(so as to give the illusion of no more growth occurring). If anyone has experience with any of this I'd love to hear what you have to say- helps me out a lot in my planning/prediction :)
Cheers!
-Avi

Third time growing my hair out after cutting it back in 2016/2017. Hit the two year mark with no trims or cuts.
Hello.
Ive been growing my hair out for around 1y now. It´s getting to my shoulders. However, it is so thick and sturdy, I have this enormous amount of hair on my head, and it doesnt look that good. I always wear it in a bun, it looks pretty good like this. But I want to wear it open so bad! Do I have to be more patient till it gets longer or is my hair just not made for being long...
Your advice would be appreciated.

Still growing my hair and beard. No sign of stopping the growth of either.

Hey all,
Been over half a year since I've posted an update here (hah, that rhymes ;p !). Earlier this spring, there was a discussion on this board about barbers/hair stylists and whether to trust them or not. I took the stance that if you have a good one that you can trust, then all would be good. Man was I wrong ;p ! About a week after that thread, I had my first trim in a good while due to the pandemic. My ends were pretty damaged (away from regular trims - pandemic), so the hair stylist looked when I got there and said she'd only cut about two inches off. I swear it was four ;o !... lesson learned xD (you always know when a hair stylist has done something wrong when they hand you the mirror and immediately start defending themselves ~o~; !). Went from hair halfway down my back to just barely below the shoulders. Oh well ;o . . . . .
Distant history now ;p .
Mor recently and again - due to the pandemic, I began to again pull out a lot of hair due to split ends. My wife has been offering to trim my hair for over a year now, but I never trusted her to do it (after all, she is the one who did chop off my hair about five years ago in a fit of rage . . .). After my last experience with the hair stylist, having seen the job my wife does trimming the kids' hair, not wanting to pull out any more hair and not wanting to chance going out during the current covid surge, I decided to take a chance with her and have her do it - why not ;p ?... and what do you know - she didn't do too bad of a job ^^ ! She only took an inch (or less off), I believe :) .
She also introduced me to some leave-in conditioner. I've never really taken much good care of my hair until late... and to my surprise, my wife is now helping me with putting in the conditioner, too ;D (which I do every two nights -- I think she just wants my hair to look halfway decent - probably why ;p ). Funny stuff - the conditioner makes my hair straight on the first night and then back to naturally wavy on the second... go figure ;p .
The attached was taken a few days ago and not too long after the first trim she gave me. I am a bit surprised with how it looks - pleasantly surprised, actually :) (I thought it would be a lot worse off than it really is). I haven't regained all of the length that I lost this spring - but man, my hair is in much of a better place than it was a half a year agi :) ... pretty happy ^^ !
Anywho, I hope you all are staying safe 'n healthy during this dark winter and happy 2021 in advance ^^ !... it can't get here soon enough ;p !
Cheers all ^_^ ~

Hello Fellow Long Haired Dudes
This is my 4th and last long haired journey, hopefully I will go to grave with it. If I dont lose it. Which I currently have have suffered a bald spot on back of my head. I was a poster here 10 years ago but had to cut it due to economics and societys view. My wife and friends tell me I look better and younger with it short. I dont care. I LIKE MY LONG HAIR. ITS ME !
Sorry cant allways post or comment. Its difficult on the smart phone. Hopefully getting new computer.
Keep them hairs-a-growing !
Steve

Okay, okay, mea maxima culpa! There's a new round of photo updates going on here, and I've been quite remiss! Sheesh, this has been a difficult year! But my hair is doing well. I was regularly colouring, up to summer 2019, and decided to let it go 'natural.' About 13 months ago, I cut off some inches to get rid of some of the coloured hair. I've left it alone since then, neither trimming nor colouring, and this is what I have today. I fuss with my hair a bit: twice-weekly washing and conditioning, keratin masque, a bit of argon oil daily. I'm happy with the results.

Hello,
I've written this for people that tell you should cut your hair. Feel free to edit this text if you have better ideas.
I'm a guy with long hair and I speak to you who tells me When you will cut your hair?. I heard this sentence a thousand of times and you aren't the first nor the last to tell me this, so I don't care.
Only, did you asked yourself the question of why I have long hair? Yes it's my choice to have them long.
For some people, hair are just a fashion accessory, and they will cut them one day.
But for others their hair are part of their body. When you say to someone to cut their hair it's like if you asked mutilate himself. His long hair are a part of his personality. This person feels good in their body. So, next time, think before critic someone on his hair length. And this hair length has nothing to do with his skills.
I have long hair and I'm more tolerant than you, you have short hair it's your choice and I don't criticize it so be tolerant to me.

One year anniversary of salon trim.
Is Avi still around? Did he end up cutting his hair ;o (hopefully not)???

Hey! been a while.
Just wanted to share my current (new) journey, I posted here many years ago when my hair reached my waist (and later to my hips), all before I had to shave it off due to military service.
After that period was over I haven't had a single trim since and learned to embrace my curlier texture and to take better care of it. This length is about ~40 months since my last buzzcut, here's for more growth onwards and downwards!

Hey guys! It's me again! Thought I'd post my 3-year-1-month hair update pic.
This community has always been so supportive of those of us who've always wanted to grow our hair long. I actually have a YouTube channel documenting my hair growth, and I actually made a (rather terrible, haha) video about why I'm growing my hair long. Anybody else read Bill's "On Being a Longhair?" That thing is SERIOUSLY my Bible, LOL
I'll post the link to my video down below if you wanna check it out. Thanks again for being such an awesome community!

Hello,
I did a video of my hairstyles including braiding.
Excuse me for my English pronunciation it's not very good because I haven't munch practice.
Video of my hairstyles
It's nice to see the group awakening for this fall. It reminded me that my last haircut was in October 2013. I reached a somewhat short terminal length. Here I am with it all pulled to the front.
Some still feel they have to justify themselves in the face of criticism. I went shopping with my wife, and the lady at the checkout jokingly offered to trim my hair, and then my wife came out with the usual BS about trimming being necessary to increase thickness. I just said that I expose it three times to the full moon, say 3 magical incantations and sleep with an aluminium foil hat.
Most people I meet here in Europe don't care how others dress or have their hair. The few who make a comment can be passed off with humour and overstatement.
Greetings to all,
Anthony

Hey y'all I know I haven't been on in quite a while but it's nice to see people still posting on here. I was a member since 2007 and used to be more active on here but thought I'd stop by and say hello to old and new members. Here's an hair update and yes I'm still a long hair after all these years! - Mark

Hello fellow hair-farmers,
Most of the long-term members of MLHH know me quite well; but a few of you are new to me, as well as visa-versa...
Ken's MLHH history in-a-nutshell:
1) I first discovered this hyperboard in the fall of 2003, gradually getting more & more active by the winter of '04, eventually becoming a "regular" by spring;
2) my good friend, the late Bill Choisser (who wrote "ON BEING A LONGHAIR" -- as well as was a long-time Moderator and MLHH Tech Wizard), helped me to set up my own website, including taking a lot of the pics for my fun Hair Page... which I regret to inform everyone here that I unfortunately let that website go (long story...)....
3) Sometime during that same year (2004), I was honored to be asked if I would join the Moderating Crew. My fellow MLHH Moderators who still remember me from that era can verify: I was hands-down THE most computer-stupid Moderator that MLHH has ever had on their team! But, I *do* have long hair; plus, I can type... I also inherited my grandmother's sharp tongue (but try not to scold people too often with it - LOL)!
4) My handle originally used to be "Longhaired Urban Cowboy" (eventually shortened to just "Urban Cowboy") -- I used to go out C&W dancing a lot back then, including was Sundance Saloon's longtime West Coast Swing dance teacher here in San Francisco.
5) I resigned from being on the Moderating Crew in late 2007. Then a few years later, changed my handle to just, "Ken in SF".
Since I don't know how to post any of my more recent pics, -- because they're all on my cell phone (reminder: I'm well known for my computer-stupidity AND cell phone stupidity) -- I'll have to share some older pics of me, which hopefully I still remember how to upload - LOL)....
If I succeed in posting the first pic of my hair, I believe that selfie was taken in January of 2011, at San Francisco's Ocean Beach -- enjoy!
- Ken
I was just thinking about these past members. Has anyone heard anything regarding them?

I've been growing my hair out for 4 years now. I love it but my wife hates it. Have you guys experienced similar problems? I've also been looking for new hair care products can you recommend any?
P.S. This was a picture from my last business head shot.
Hello all,
I used to be a member back in 2007.had shoulder length curly hair. I lived on an island in greece
I'm 37 now. And in the last 3 years I've thinning out so much on top and the crown it had to go. It's been a hard transition. I buzz now every other day. Sometimes shaving with cream.
I've now taken up the Hobbie of a beard
I'm starting to grow a year long van dyke.
That's just the way the cookie crumbled for me.
I even considered growing a sort or rats tail plaite at the thickest part of the back of my head. With a shaved head. Kind of like the Chinese did. But I felt silly.
Anyways. Not really sure why I stopped by, other then grow on for those who can't gents.

Hey guys! Thought I'd just post a really quick update pic of my hair growth so far. This is about 3 years if hair growth (with quite a few trims along the way). My goal is to get it down to my waist, and then I'l see what I want to do with it from there!

Shampoo every 7 to 10 days. Shampoo, rinse, then shampoo again, rinse. Add conditioner. Let set for 10 minutes, leave shower. Brush through with a course plastic comb thru wet hair. Reenter shower, rinse, but leave some conditioner on. Comb thru with a course plastic comb. As hair dries, brush again with a fine comb, and hairbrush. Each morning, add leave-in conditioner to the ends, brush with a course plastic comb. Let dry, brush with fine comb. This creates a silk appearance.
Procedures recommended at the hair salon. Have not gone to the hair salon for a year, being shut down. Life has been the same as last year. At home most of the time.
Don

Hello all ! :) Just posting my 22 month growth update from a buzzcut. This is my 3rd time growing my hair out from a military buzzcut length. Coming along ! Take care all :)
Hey all... hope this post finds you well and healthy, safe at home from COVID.
Sitting at home has given me a lot of time to think and reflect and I'm starting to lean toward getting a haircut for some reason. Maybe it's the result of being inside for too long continuously but... just thought I'd post and try to get my thoughts out to the only people who'd understand them, you guys.
I've known I've wanted long hair since a very young age, I remember knowing this at about age 2 or 3 even. I couldn't grow it out for a long time because of conservative parents, but once I turned 18 I finally began and now I'm at about nipple length, have been growing for 2 years at this point.
The goal is to grow to hip/classic length, which should take about 2-3 more years by my estimate. I made it out of the awkward phase about a year ago so I'm definitely not discouraged by that in particular.. it's a bunch of other factors.
For one, I think the fact that even after two years I'm nowhere near my target length has gotten to me and is discouraging me. I think if I were there already I would be perfectly happy, but waiting takes a toll on me- I have a form of ADHD and just am jumpy/impatient in general as a result.
I'm also starting to feel like I just looked better with short hair rather than long hair. That's obviously something left up to opinion but I can leave some pics so you guys can understand what I mean. Obviously things might be different if my hair was longer but as of now its not very long. At greater lengths maybe I could do a striking sephiroth type look but who knows...
Before: https://i.imgur.com/yWAvonW.jpg
After: https://i.imgur.com/kn5XAXW.jpg
Also, I haven't figured out how to style my hair at all. I haven't figured out the manbun nor any other style that looks good on me... I would ask my female friends but at this point I can't because of the lockdown.
This one will sound stupid, but dating/sex has been way harder with long hair. I would fairly frequently get attention from girls when I had short hair but now it's almost never. As a young guy in my late teens it's difficult to go without sex for long periods of time, no matter what the media says about abstinence culture and such. There's no denying that having longer hair has worsened my dating life. That's something that many of us have dealt with and I was aware going into this but I didn't realize just how hard it might hit.
Overall, I'm not going to make a rash decision here. I probably still will not be going back to short hair in any case but I just wanted to put this out there and get it off my chest because it had been bothering me, and I wanted to hear what others thought and if they had been through similar things. I need to be careful and think anything through before I do something I regret. I'd love to hear from you and your experiences so I can make the proper choice for myself.
At the moment, what I'm thinking is to give it about another year, and if it still isn't working out well for me then I'll make the chop. That's not a concrete plan but just something I've been mulling over. But as I said, I want to hear everyone's thoughts and think about it properly before I do anything stupid.
I really appreciate you all! Hope you're staying safe and well!
Cheers,
Avi

Hello,
I saw a TV show where a woman were hang by her hair and dancing.
Is it fake or real? How is it possible to do this without suffering? I think it would damage roots and cause hair loss.
You can see the replay here at 0:49': https://www.france.tv/france-2/spectaculaire/1974679-emission-du-samedi-3-octobre-2020.html

Hope everybody is doing well given the current pandemic. My last post was 5 months ago. Time sure does fly !
I will always have long one length long hair. Lately I have considered trimming it shorter. It is almost to my belly button. I had it belt length at one time but found it too long for my tastes. I guest growing to terminal length is out for me.

Alicia Silverstone's son has long hair and is being bullied by his peers. His solution? He wants to grow his hair longer (waist length). Good for him. And good for his parents for letting him wear his hair the way he wants.
So I just googled men with long hair because of an incident today that the kind of offended me. Ive always loved hair long hair Ive had most of my life and Ive been advised many times both directly and indirectly that it could be a detriment in finding a job even though it should not be. Anyway I just got a new job got through the interview and everything. Taking the next step in my path to success in the accounting field. Landed the job perfectly on merit. Today I went into sign the paperwork and the boss said I do want to say that we are a professional environment I want to ask about your hair. I said do you have an issue with it? He said I dont have an issue but we do want to be professional I dont know if you want to cut it. I dont know how attached you are to it. I responded very and he said oh then I wont bother you about it. So Im glad that part is behind us but it still bothers me that this is the year 2020 and people still make an issue of men with long hair. So I just needed to rant about that and I found this board.

Hi fellow long hair friends,
I've uploaded a video, and realised it was the 100th month of growing long hair. 8 years and 4 months. What a nice number haha. This was recorded in October, in a very nice forest location.
Sometimes I feel like my hair is very normal, sometimes I feel like It would be cool to have short hair. But most of the time I enjoy having my hair long.
Thanks for your replies on my previous thread! I appreciate your kind words.
Hope you are well! :)

my hair after ~2 years

Hello everybody
I've found this website by random. I couldn't imagine that a such website and community could exists. It seems that it's one of the only website of this type on Internet.
I had seeking if a french website of this type exits but it seems that's not the case.
I read this board for several days and it's nice to see that there are others peoples like me.
I've long hairs for 20 years I like this and I can't explain why.
I live in Bordeaux, France and my main hobby is funfairs.
If you wants an explanation of my nickname:
Jesus: do I need to explain?
Forain: french word for showmen. Peoples that works on funfairs and travelling carnivals.
Of course you can google me, you'll find other stuff about me.

Hi(gh)!
Without any convenient (i. e. those with access to open water to clean myself afterwards and without risk of contracting botulism) "pleasure swamp" in reach, I decided not to take the summer swamp gypsy ride but instead keep the beard... and having turned 51 today, this would be a nice occasion to make a picture!

Hello you guys. I've posted here a handful of times, but not recently. I started growing my hair about six years ago, at the age of 43, and after having tried all through my teens, twenties and thirties, I finally got my hair to the length I've always wanted.
Part of the reason I was able to do it was because of this forum. The encouragement is really helpful in world where most people really don't like long hair on men.
I'm also gay, and ... I don't think I realized how few gay guys like long hair until I had it. My sex life is a desert these days. But having long hair is so great! I finally feel like myself.
Recent photo attached! Cheers.
Hello,
I wash my hair once per week and use rinse conditioner.
I had read that some people recommend to conditioning every 2-3 days. Does that mean that I should wet my hair with water only and use a conditioner?
Is conditioning when no shampoo needed is useful.
Hello everyone! How was Valentines Day? It was a busy one for me.
Anyway, we all know men rarely grow their hair to waist length or longer around these days, but there is something I realized: I have never EVER seen a boy with floor length hair.
I know the whole thing is supposed to be unsurprising, but I was surprised by that realization. The longest I saw was knee-length!
There is no way any of you found a boy with hair that long, but maybe you all did.

My hair with ponytail with 9 months

I've had long hair since 2003 and I no longer satisfied with your standard ponytail or man bun. I just want someone else to style my hair for me.
How do I find women into this?
Sorry if this post is breaking the rules or something, but are there any dating sites or services out there for gay men with long hair? I tried to go to the gaylonghairs.com under the Links section, but that site doesn't exist anymore. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
I am a gay man with long hair, by the way. Here's a current pic of the length. I plan on growing it much longer!

Hi everyone.
I havent posted in a while.
Heres a pic of me from a few minutes ago at the office!
Enjoy the summer.
A.D.
I tripped over a show on Discovery called Dual Survival.
One of the male contestants has waist length braids.
So it's been roughly 2 years since my last haircut or trim of any kind. My hair is about to my nipples. For the longest time I hadn't seen any split ends at all in my hair. I suspect that was because I don't use heat at all nor chemicals for styling, and I'm fairly gentle with my hair most of the time. Unfortunately though you can't avoid environmental damage. So last week for the first time ever I found a split end, and today I found two more. I'm kind of sad right now because I was doing well for so long but all of a sudden I'm finding split ends. I tried to come up with some potential reasons:
- Sometimes in a hurry I'll comb quickly/rashly and that might cause damage
- General environmental damage from wind/sun
- Not keeping it moist enough; until recently I didn't really use coconut oil, which I regret, I use it regularly nowadays
- Not getting trims? I'm not a fan of trims because I always assumed I don't need them since I don't actively damage my hair with heat, but idk at this point :(
Anyways I'm kinda lost as to what to do. If I'm getting split ends now I don't really know how to deal with them but at the same time I don't want to go back to short hair. Do I just do a search and destroy every night or every week or something?
Any advice is appreciated. Cheers :)
Just so everyone is covered here, what straight long hair dating sites give the best results? Also are they ones which work for a global audience? Please list them in the replies. I tried out a long hair dating site recently and the membership is near non-existent in the area which I live.

Like this site, encourages you to grow hair long while others don't. Some of theses people had long hair back in the 1970s or had boyfriends with long hair. How do I know? I was a teenager back then. Young people generally like it though. This may be my last time growing it long. Not as thick as it used to be. Longest I ever had it. Shooting for eight years.

I last posted 3 months ago stating that I was going to start my journey again after growing my hair out for 3 years and then cutting it all off. Here is my latest pic :)
Check out Jerry Oliver and his beautiful waist length hair. It's interesting to note that a lot of male models have long hair.
Jerry OliverAfter reading Absolom's post below i've reluctantly come to the
agonizing realization I need to keep my hair at about nipple
length. Some of the hair grows longer than nipple length, but some of the hair doesn't. I don't know if some of the hair just stops growing at about nipple length, or if the hair has gotten damaged. I've been very careful about avoiding damage so i'm wondering if, now that i'm 65 years old (66 in August) if the terminal length of some of the hair is now at nipple length. I would hate to lose the length but I also hate the way the ends look. The hair is also all grey and I intend to keep it grey.
I am considering trimming my hair back to belt length. The last foot of my hair is badly frayed and it forms knots when I wash. This causes damage to good undamaged hair due to severe tangling. I am thinking of going for better and trouble free high quality hair at this time. I am fed up with it taking hours to detangle after washing. Any advice here?

So after my last post I decided to go ahead and try and give myself a search and destroy trim... unwittingly I grabbed the first pair of scissors I saw and went to town. I was happy with the results but then I did some quick reading and realized to my horror that using everyday scissors(which are quite blunt) don't cut the hair properly and simply cause more split ends... now I'm kinda freaked out because I just made my situation worse. Has anybody had any experience with this? Have you cut your hair with blunt scissors and as a result gotten more split ends? Or is that just a ruse? Any help is welcome cuz I have to figure this out :(
So I used to post here back around 2002 or so. Cut my hair some time after, never grew it out again. I remembered the board though and thought I would look for it, didn't think it would still be around with all the changes in social media and what not (kind of crazy that I still had my first flip phone the last time I posted here, I could play snake and solitaire on it, it was amazing lol).
Glad this community is still going, any guys from back around that time? I vaguely remember faces but can't put names to them and don't even remember what my user name was. I do remember someone on here sold these small scrunchies/hair ties that were of a really soft, almost velvet material and wouldn't snag any hairs, and I remember everyone being a big fan of Aussie hair products but that's about as far as my memory goes.

From beginning of February 2019

Hey, everyone! Been a long-time lurker of this community, and today I feel like it's finally time to post a picture of my hair. This is a picture from a few weeks ago, right before work. I usually try and wear my hair down because I love the feeling of it on my shoulders, and because I get a lot of compliments at work.I read Bill Choisser's "On Being a Longhair" many years ago, and instantly felt a connection. I am DEFINITELY a Born Longhair; wanting long hair is among my earliest memories. I plan on growing my hair down to my belly button, but one of my friends wants to grow his hair with me to terminal length, which would hopefully be down to my waist or even longer (I wouldn't complain if my terminal length was floor-length or longer, but I seriously doubt it). I'm excited to finally be a longhair, and I'm even more excited for my hair to grow longer and longer! Cheers!
Around here in the US of A we have thousands of people protesting the stay at home order. They want to be able to go to the beach, go golfing, go for a haircut, etc.
What these people don't realize is people are encouraged to stay home to stop the spread. In the US of A we've now had more people die of COVID 19 than died in the entire Vietnam War. for many with underlying medical issues it's a matter of life and death.
[full disclosure: my wife has underlying medical issues and my father in law is in a rehab facility having a positive COVID 19 test.
For a number of people this shut down is a temporary inconvenience, in a month they'll be able to get a haircut and do other stuff in the coming months. On the other hand we've got thousands who have died and will never get the chance to partake in the activities these thousands of protesters are want to do.
It'S a question of priorities. My father in law is proof that COVID 19 is not a hoax.
[Addendum: our local Wal-Mart has jut been shut down for a deep cleaning after an employee died of COVID 19. Also people are traveling to states like Maine to get their haircuts only to be told they'll only serve Maine residents and that out of state people have to self quarantine for 14 days. }

Hello!
I have been practicing my braids and though I'm still not the greatest I can manage double braids somehow. I attached the photo- I think they look meh but I feel that french or Dutch braids would look even better. What do you guys think?

Hello everyone!
I just had a nostalgic moment and wanted to come see if the hyperboard was still up - in fact, I sometimes still lurk around here to see the familiar faces, and I'm glad to see a lot of them! Hello to the oldies here, you know who you are! =)
I joined here when I was 16 years old, I had started growing my hair 8 months ago at the time. Right now, it has been 15 years and 4 months cine I last had a short haircut. It's like a different life and it is so my life. I've had different styles in the meantime though I always kept my hair long.
My original goal when I joined here (which my hair still short) was knee length. Now I never got to that length however I did get to classic length and then started trimming my hair to get better ends.
Anyhow, after some cuts here and then (I did go back to just below waist length about 2 years ago I believe), I still have long hair, currently sitting around the middle of my butt. I have this plan of not cutting it at all this year as an attempt to get to classic length again but I will see! My ends are not giving me such a hard time anymore fortunately. I have started oiling my hair a bit more often and it's been easier this way, to avoid trimming. The ends are quite thinner than I would like still, however they are a lot thicker than the last time my hair was this long. So fingers crossed!
In any case I am much more relaxed about it right now. Even trimming it feels good when I have to, it's refreshing and preparing it to grow longer again.
I have to say thank you forever to this hyperboard and the people that were here when I was a regular. I felt at home and very welcome in a phase of my life where I was still very insecure. The long hair sure made me feel special in the long run, and is now a trademark of mine that has, among other things, given me work where I use my image, and that says a lot about how confident if makes me feel.
To the new faces I say: just keep letting it grow if that's what you want and what's going to make you happy. There is not a time when I'm combing my hair that I don't feel immensely proud of my perseverance in taking care of it. To most this is something very shallow and superficial. But especially when it hasn't come to you without effort, there is a reason to be proud and happy <3
And of course, you can see how it is looking. I uploaded a picture of it to my instagram recently:

I hope everyone is doing super well and that there has been a lot of personal growth as well as hair growth! And thank you to the moderators for keeping this place alive <3

...slowly but surely. Can say I was a bit surprised when I saw this photo - hadn't seen myself from behind in a while ;o ... not too bad - so I guess I can feel good that it's still growing a bit & a bit longer, too :) . Hope everyone is staying safe 'n healthy out there, my friends - cheers ^_^ ~
What are guys here doing with their hair when they wear a face mask? (Some cities and towns are now fining people who are not wearing fact masks.)
What about beards? Apparently with face masks they don't make a good seal with a beard.
I hope everyone here is surviving the COVID 19 virus.
Around here there are several good things about this pandemic
The amount of traffic on the roads are down, crime in the state is down, and non essential businesses are closed. (for us this means Barber Shops are closed.)
So remember to stay away from crowds (at least six feet), wash your hands. and stay home.

Been a long time, but it's been 17 years and I'm still a longhair.
Is any one else blown away by the healthy, silky mane of Trevor Lawrence?
If you're not aware of him . . .he's the Quarterback for the Clemson Tigers college football team.
He tosses it, finger strokes it shakes his head to get it off his face.
It's just past his shoulders.
Hello community,
I've been growing out my hair on the top for quite a while, and like half a year ago, I also started growing out the rest.
My hair is creeping down the back of my neck and it curls up, it just looks horrible.
My question: pull through? Is it necessary to grow the hair out there too, if I want "complete" long hair?
thanks in advance.
Forgot that when I take pics with the phone straight up that they will appear sideways.

If I don't have much success growing it on top could grow it on the chin.

Been trying to grow back my hair (at least what's left) since August. Progress posts coming up shortly. First one from Aug.

Its been awhile since Ive posted but Im still here..........

Dear All,
I would like to wish you all a happy new year. The photo here was taken last June whilst I was at a sailing gathering in Brittany. I am practically sure that I reached terminal length about 2 years ago - at mid-back length with a few strands touching just above my butt with my head tipped back. God gave me what I've got, and many others have a much shorter terminal length. Here I am sitting in my moored boat.

Hello everybody! :)
I've posted here periodically over the past 2 years but I thought I'd finally post a more detailed update because I have a lot to say.
I first posted here over 2 years ago. I was a 16 year old kid in high school who'd wanted to grow my hair out since I was 2, and I'd never gotten to do so. I was nervous and scared as to what my family and friends would think, and whether I would be able to manage to do this or not.
Today I'm 19, an engineering student at Texas A&M, and confident with my mane :) My final haircut of all time was in March of 2018- it has been two years on my long hair journey.
Alright, some photos! My hair looks slightly greasy in the first few because I just did my nightly oiling- usually its not so prevalent :)

My goal for the time being is classic length- if I can get beyond that I'll go for it, but that is the initial goal at the moment.
I seem to grow at the regular rate, 6 inches per year. I've been fairly diligent about length retention and I've managed to retain all 12 inches from the past two years. I hope I can continue that length retention- if I can, I'll be able to reach my waist in one year, my hip in two years, and classic length in 3 years- exciting to hear! But I have to be careful and keep my ends healthy. So far I haven't spotted any split ends, but I'm worried they may appear soon. I avoid blow drying(I air dry), heat/chemicals(i have no reason to curl my hair or dye it), and I wash my hair once per week(in order to not overwash and make it dry). I recently began taking multiple supplements including collagen, biotin, folic acid, and omega3 to see if I can improve my growth rate. I also use coconut oil on my ends to keep them moisturized and prevent them from splitting. I'm from Southern India(TamilNadu), where coconut oil is widely used on hair. Women from my area of the world very often grow hair to classic length and often much longer. So I have high hopes that I too have a terminal length as long as them, and that my dreams won't be cut short by a genetic limit. It definitely worries me at times though, that a terminal limit on my length does exist- what if it isn't as long as I want?
My parents at first were not at all happy with my choice, and kept threatening haircuts. I love them very much, they're amazing parents, but I was very firm that this is my hair and that I would do with it as I wished. They've mostly backed off now- they make the occasional joke about how a haircut would look good on me but they don't push it. My friends have been very supportive as well- the female ones help me with hair care and often brush and braid my hair(I find this very relaxing for whatever reason). The male ones(my core friend group of "bros") enjoy making fun of me playfully, but they never cross the line and they're never serious about it. I make fun of them for various things too so it's only fair after all :) But they know their limits and they are supportive in that they don't target my hair or insist that I get a haircut. I do feel like my hair causes me to get less attention from women than my friends do- this saddens me but I'm more than willing to sacrifice it in order to meet my goals- this is more important to me.
Probably the biggest issue for me with my hair has just been hair envy/depression. I oftentimes will see people(usually women) who have achieved my goal of classic length, either on the internet or in real life. Obviously they have put in a lot of care and effort to get there and worked hard- they too were once where I was. But I can't help but feel jealous that I'm not there yet. Patience is difficult for me, and I wish I could just wake up tomorrow and have my hair at classic length. Seeing other people who have achieved their goals makes me feel depressed that I'm not there yet. I have immense respect for them and the time they put into making that happen. Had I started my journey earlier, which I could not because of my parents' strictness with hair, I would have also likely reached my goals by now- this just fuels resentment toward my parents, though I should not blame them for trying to raise me how they saw best fit. This envy/depression is a struggle for me, but I won't let it deter me from my goals.
I think that's about everything I had to say- Thank you all for being so supportive! In a time where I felt I was alone and weird for wanting long hair, y'all provided me a community where I felt normal and wanted for my wishes and inspired me to work toward my goals. I really have no words to say how thankful I am for that. I'd love to hear what you all have to say about my hair as well as the ups and downs of my journey so far. I will keep updating you and asking questions as time goes on- the journey has only just begun!
Sincerely,
Avi

Hello all ! It has been awhile since I visited the site. I grew my hair out for 3 years when I first joined this forum, and love it. I sadly cut it all off and went with a super short style and then grew it out for about 17 months before cutting it again. I am now dedicated to keeping my hair long, and have made it to the 15 month. Here is an attached pic with my current hair length. I turned 40 this past October :)
Just curious what are you using in your hair and how have the results been? What works for your hair type and what do you recommend?

I am in the Member's Directory on MLHH but need my address updated. I moved out of Fresh Meadows, New York, USA and am now in Nea Makri-Zoumperi, Attiki, Greece. Yes, I am one of those 277 people leaving New York City per day. I figured who needs to live in an expensive prison?
I took this ponytail photograph tonight. I would possibly have longer hair if I maintained it better. Given stress and not getting my ends done for periods of 9 months or longer doesn't give it the strength to show greater length. Given I am 40 with no hair loss and little grey I'm not doing badly at all.
Tonight in my village in Greece, I met a friendly Russian woman from Yekaterinburg. A big city I heard of situated just to the east of the Ural Mountains range, dividing Europe from Asia. She has been living in Greece for 15 years. She speaks little English and I speak little Greek. We had difficultly communicating but managed still to where we could understand each other. She told me I am a perfectly handsome man but doesn't get it [(the reason(s)] why the ponytail and mustache I wear, thinking it detracts from my looks. Nonetheless, she played with my ponytail a little bit. I would suppose from this she likes the hair, just not on me. She's 48 years old and I am 40. I will have to ask her birth date next time as I think that astrology stuff is a good indicator of things if a relationship is likely. Her looks are okay but difficult to see entirely as she was wearing a jacket and hat when she came over to my house. She is blond haired with the Slavic look, not slanted eye look. Her hair is shorter than mine, it looks just at or above shoulder length.
I asked this previously but was wondering if anyone has information about this long hair model. Marianne Ernst (of Germany) is one of my favorite long haired female models but she hasn't posted any pictures since 2018. Anyone know her whereabouts or how she's doing?
Hello:
No need to list this in the forum. I tried contacting you before but there has been no change made.
My listing, J.M.M., I no longer live in Fresh Meadows, New York, USA. I now reside in Nea Makri-Zoumperi, Attiki, Greece. Plus update the Member's Directory with the change in location. Also you can remove my comments made describing my profile as they no longer apply.
Thank you,

Has anyone seen an update from Hair Freaky Long Hair lately? https://www.facebook.com/Hairfreakylonghair/

Time flies. My son will be eight soon and appears to be a born longhair as hes been always offered the choice of hair length and has never wavered in wanting it long. He agreed to a small trim on New Years Day as my wife was giving me a trim anyway. I could see him experimenting when hes a teenager with shorter styles but hes given no indication of wanting to cut it short. He views it as part of his identity.
Ive been having my hair trimmed once or twice per year. It has been gradually lengthening again since it was cut to shoulder length in July 2018. I might go for mid-back again. I doubt Id ever try for terminal again given my hairs fine texture. Im very satisfied in just maintaining and enjoying being a longhair. My cycling has been cut back a lot over the last year and its been replaced with running. Running is no doubt a bit easier on ones hair as there is no helmet and less wind damage.

Hi all!
A new year and a new decade! I hope everyone is well in this interesting era :) . A photo from today... man, it's hard to tell if my hair is still growing, but I sure hope it is ;p . I guess a few inches off due to split ends doesn't help as well ;o . The wife did this braid for me - kind'a Lord of the Rings -ish ;p heheh. Anyways, cheers and the best to you all, my friends ^^ !!!~
btw - great to see long hair coming back in again on guys and in a very strong way ;D ~ ^_^

This guy has beautiful silky hair that falls below his waist. Just Goggle "Master Hector Ramos" for facebook photos (especially those posted by other people) and videos.

Heres my yearly update. I think my hair looks a bit longer than in reality because of the angle of the camera
.but it gives you an idea.
Wish you all the best in the new year.
