It’s great to see our new version of the MLHH, and congratulations to the team for doing such an excellent job. I got a note from Jesus Forain yesterday that the new site was live, and encouraging me to post a couple of photos as well.
I hope that this works, since this is my first attempt trying to post in this new version of the site.
As a 72 year old guy, I’m quite happy to have a reasonably full head of hair. I have two photos here, one showing my hair in a middle part, and another, taken a few weeks ago, with more of a side part, after I did a small dusting trim to even up the ends.
Hopefully, our new site will thrive, and become more active as more members discover the improvements.
Good morning everyone,
It's been about 2 weeks since my last post, thought I'd make an update. Still on the path, alternating between feeling like I am making some progress and feeling like it's taking forever :) Not much growth since last time, but this is my hair freshly washed. Just as an experiment I've been trying egg-washing my hair once per week. It sounds strange, but it seems to work pretty well for me. Anyone else ever tried it?
Hope everyone has a great week!

Philip
So… I was chewing gum last night, and I woke up with it in my hair. yikes
My friend took the photo. ( I had to cut out the gum with ✂️ scissors)

Just wanted to say great job on the board, it's really looking good thanks to all the work that obviously went into this change. I miss the old format too it was very nostalgic the way it was. I was finding the old board wouldn't open in chrome any more, hopefully this new format will breathe new life into things and get some new posters.
I've been hanging around since early 2000s, no longer obsessed with doing weekly updates like I used to since my hair has been growing this 3rd time for nearly 11 yrs.
Growth seemed to slow down once it got near belt length, seems to have been at around belt length for ages (my perception/impatience/self trims don't help!!). Shoulder length to midback seemed to take no time (couple of yrs) then to belt length a few more yrs. These new pics indeed indicate it's still growing, if somewhat thinner at the ends. Just wanting to see how much longer it will grow while I still can, I do feel lucky genetically that I can still have this much hair at my age, even if the top/front is not as thick as it used to be and getting quite a v shape at the temples. Can't complain all in all!
Here's a some recent pics I took. They seem huge lol, it's a bit scary? and a bit blurry? Prob my poor camera skills and should have downscaled them sorry.
I haven't trimmed in over 2 yrs just to see how much longer it will get. I just washed it so the ponytail is super gigantic... When I go out it's normally in a bun but sometimes I like to wear a pony tail out which I normally get positive remarks over. If I wear it loose it tends to get quite annoying, stuck in car doors, constantly having to swish it out of the way, sit on it etc and gets all tangled, as well as sometimes scaring the guys when I turn around and they realize I'm a big 50 something hairy guy and not whoever they thought they were looking at.. . anyway that's all part of the fun ha ha! Hope to see more posts soon from new and old!

I suppose that everybody here knows this TV series form the 90s where the main character Duncan Macleod have long hair tied in a ponytail. Sadly, he cuts his hair at the beginning of the last season (119 episodes in 6 seasons). I found that this ponytail was a part of the Macleod character, it's a little like if we remove the costume of Superman in a movie.
The actor who played Duncan Macleod was Adrian Paul and I found his YouTube channel where he explains some beyond the scenes and answer questions about the Highlander TV series.
I thought he used a long hair wig but it's not exactly this. He had mid length hair, longer than usual but not long enough to be tied in a ponytail.
He got hair extensions for scenes with long hair and a short hair wig for scenes with short hair. His real hair was simply put under the wig behind his head with hair pins.
I always wanted to have these hair ties with Celtic symbols, I find them cool and it was the only hair ties specifically designed for men. They were sold when the official store used to exists a long time ago. I've searched on Ebay but I can't find ones.

Hello everyone,
I used the original board since the early 2000.
I have long hair since 1979. I am 67 and retired from an IT job at UQAM.
I am glad to see the board up and running.
Thank you for keeping an old web tradition alive.

Hey y’all here’s 4 years of growth

Hi,
It's me in the Bordeaux fun-fair in France. I'm a fun-fair enthusiast and it's where I spend my holidays, 3 weeks in March and 3 weeks in October riding amusement rides.
My nickname comes from this:
- Jesus for long hair and beard
- Forain. It's a French word that designates people owning and operating amusement rides in fairgrounds. It's the same pronunciation as “foreign” that comes from the french word “forain” and means stranger to something.
I always have my hair tied for safety because it could get caught by ride mechanisms and cause severe injury and if I leat my hair loose it tends to tangle. I had loose hair just for the photo.
Fun fact:
An episode of the TV series Highlander was shot in a hotel, next to this place. I remember that in the episode the characters says “we go to Bordeaux” and we see them at the hotel window with the theater/opera of Bordeaux opposite the the hotel. It's a 90s TV series where the main character, Duncan McLeod have long hair; tied in a ponytail most of the time. I had watched this series when aired on TV and found his style super cool with his ponytail. Sadly in the lasts episodes of the series he went to short hair, we see him cutting his hair in one of the episodes.
I'll try to find this episode.
Hey guys!!
I'm Tom and I'm new here. I'm a longtime admirer and huge supporter of the channel and all of you! I've decided to finally do it and grow my hair long… YAY!! I'm seven months in from a very short low fade with about three-quarters of an inch on top. I'm also noticing some curl, which is cool!
I'll pop back on here periodically to post progress pics. Hope to hear from you guys!!

hey guys do you think I can grow my hair long? I have it short on the top and sides and its touching the top of my neck in the back. any tips? let me know!!!
Hi all,
Wow this is quite a change from the old hyperboard. I took the chance to update my bio and profile pic as they were still the same from 2007.
This is my current hair length about one year from short hair. I’ve had mostly long hair since I first started growing almost 20 years ago, but sometimes I have cut it short for various reasons.
Hope everybody is doing ok.

And one from the back:

Hi everyone,
Just a brief update, I am still in the early stages of growth but want to get into the habit of posting regular updates to keep me on track. My last haircut of any kind was in November and was an just undercut to help the top of my hair catch up to the sides. Before that I gave myself a buzz cut with about a ½" clippers in earlier in the Fall, I don't remember exactly when. I am going to call this about 6 months of growth, though. I think I have about a year before I will be able to pull it together into a tail or bun of any kind, so headed right into the heart of the awkward phase. Thanks for taking a look :)

Hi there, long time since posting, it's quiet here these days!
Good to see new people and a few of the old regulars, looking fantastic Joao David!
Just posting a rather bad phone pic I took today, hair is past belt length, been growing forever now this time round (almost 9 yrs) with a few trims on the way. Happy with how it is, I just self trim a little when I need/want, no hang ups about it. It's about as long as it can get with still looking OK in my opinion. I previously had it past belt length but it was very thin on the ends and I kept sitting on it which was actually annoying me a lot, plus some car door incidents when windy.
I had a youtube channel if anyone recognises me from that but I closed it recently, just got tired of all the google crud and people being rude or constantly asking for my contact details for what reason I don't know like it's their right or something. I'm getting too cranky and old for all that these days. So going old school and posting here instead where it all started for me in 2004! If anyone wants a chat you can now do it the old way, via email! I still don't have unsta or zip lock or xitler (I know what I mean..) or any of those things either and don't plan to get them. I have asked the users directory via the email in the FAQ's to please update so once that's done you can contact me that way for a normal conversation if you like :)
Take care all!
Matt T
Hello guys! This is my first post, and I was wondering if you had any tips for me growing my hair long.

Hi everyone, I am an ex-longhair and long-ago poster here at the MLHH. I cut my hair several years ago (boo!), but have decided to grow it long again. I'm 54, and obviously have a more mature hairline now, but hoping it turns out well. I am about 5-6 months in to growing from a buzz cut, with a self-administered undercut around the holidays so the top could grow down to about my hears before earnestly starting to grow all the way around. I am posting link to a video of where I am now, and in the thread will post a couple other recent pics and a couple from when my hair was long. Any feedback and encouragement is most welcome as I am just about to enter the awkward stage in earnest. I am so glad this board still exists, and happy to see quite a few familiar faces from back in the day :) Philip
current hair video
Measured it the other day and we are officially at 3ft of length! Hoping to grow it until it reaches a meter and then see what I want to do with it. It's probably never going to be shorter than this if I can help it.

Hi everyone
Ive been growing my hair for 4 years now. Ive gotten into a routine of just getting the ends trimmed every 2 to 3 months and that seems to keep my hair, healthy and growing. My goal is low back. It will probably take about another three years to achieve. I straightened my hair for this picture.

Hi all,
Maybe we could boost activity by us posting one or two of our hair photos that showcase our hair. These could perhaps serve as inspiration for the group. I'll post a couple from quite a few years ago. My hair is not currently as long as this.
I'll post a current hair photo at some point in the not too distant future.
Jason

Here is a back view of my hair, taken last Fall, during an outing with my friend Joe Myers, another longhair I am very close to.

You will find me towards the right of the group. Yes, still with long hair. We were all sailing small boats in Brittany and having a wonderful time.
Happy new year everyone,
Keep growing :)
May your hair stay long and healthty for 2026.
Does anyone have experience with Rogain?
After all these years of having long hair i've noticed some receeding hair line and balding spots.
I was looking at reviews of Rogain and one of the chief complaints is Rogain can lead to hair loss rather than hair gain.
I'm now 71 years old.

Thought I'd post a mkre recent picture that REALLY shows off the length of my hair! It got caught in my belt for the first time this week which was very exciting! I really am starting to need a trim to even put the ends, but I'll be getting professional headshots soon for work so gonna wait until then to trim it to one length. Still hoping to grow it to at least a meter before deciding at what length to settle! This is definitely my favorite length so far though.

Just as the title says! I've ben growing my hair for about 7 years. Here's a picture of it, and I have also linked a video I just posted talking about my long hair.
Men's Long Hair Growth Update - Almost 3 Feet!
Hi long hair guys
On June 21st, I went to an Aérotrain meeting with enthusiasts and took this photo like I did since 2021!
We suffered a heat wave, I went to this place in the afternoon, but I could only stay a few minutes because I started to feel sick due to the extreme heat. I quickly went in my car with AC. I always shot this photo at sunset when sun is just above the horizon. Thankfully, the temperature had gone down, it was bearable, and there was absolutely no wind to mess my hair.
I never had such long hair, but I have the impression that it doesn't grow longer. When wet, some reach my waist. Between the 2021 photo and this 2025 photo, I hadn't had any trim.
Photo taken on 20th June 2025.

Hi(gh)!
Still going strong, still going long!
See you in Khyberspace!

Hi,
On June 22th 2025, I had met Anthony. We have discussed shipbuilding, I had bring my shipbuilding lessons to show him. I spent two years learning shipbuilding in Saint-Nazaire (France), a city mainly known for its shipbuilding industry and shipyard "Chantiers de l'Atlantique" where famous ships had been built, like the Normandie, France, and Queen Mary 2; today they build very big cruise ships.
It was the day just after an extreme heat wave; this day was hot, but it was bearable. I also took some photos of Anthony with my film camera, a Hasselblad 500c, which is the same camera used on the Moon by astronauts from Apollo missions. I use black & white film that I develop myself and print photos in a darkroom.
Taking this photo was challenging due to the wind that messed up our hair, there was just a small breeze but it was enough. I had to take many photos until I had a good one, and between photos we rearranged our hair.
Reviewing the photos on "Long haired Legends" Instagram page, I find a great many guys with dreads whose hair is floor-length or longer. But guys with straight or curly (but non-dreads) are very scare indeed. I can only think of Hairfreaky and Danny Cecati. Does anyone know why floor-length or longer hair is so much more prevalent among guys with dreads? Perhaps it's easier to maintain dreads? Any ideas?
Windy day at the park!

Hey Yall
Ive finally reached my 3 year mark of growing it out. This past year I started using Nutrafol to help with growth as well as Hims minoxidil and finasteride to help with thinning at the top. Im looking forward to what kind of growth Ill see this next year! ☮️

In this picture, I have half of my hair at East, the other half at West, and the prime meridian (or Greenwich meridian) runs in the middle of my head!
I'm also located at the 45th North parallel, the intersection of the two lines is a singular geographic point. It's the center point of the Northern Hemisphere, and GPS coordinates are just 45°N 0°.
East is at left, West at right, North at bottom and South at top.
The story behind this photo is that I went to a fun fair for Easter in a city next to the prime meridian, and I got the idea to do a photo in the middle of the meridian, but I remember that there is the 45th parallel not so far, so I went to this specific point.
Thankfully, it's located next to a road. Aside from these signs, there is nothing here. It's located in the countryside next to a small road and a noisy highway.
First, I'm sorry to hear of Scott's passing. He did so much for the long hair community.
I've noticed a lot of guys are sporting two braids, or as we used to call them in days gone by, "Indian braids". I've also noticed on TIKTOK that a number of guys have found an interesting way of showcasing their beautiful long hair by braiding their hair in front, under the collar, as a necktie. Two I found are @egorgorbin and @Gregbatocabe. @buenalifeorg created a necktie from his long hair, but it is not braided. All of them look absolutely fantastic, and I am extremely jealous of them. Check them out.

Took a pic a couple of days ago, I was surprised, the last few from behind were not so great, I can live with this as I approach age 62 in September.

Greetings to all mlhh members and guests. It has come to my attention that a longtime member and fellow moderator has passed away around a month ago.Scott "Absalom" Nagel was a moderator and treasurer of the mlhh when I joined back around 2005.I had the honor to personally meet him during my many visits to California over the years. He was a down to earth nice guy who became a true friend.Over the years we have lost others here as its just the nature of time passing by.Scott was a great contributor to this site during his active years and will truly be missed by those that knew him. Now Scott has moved on to the afterlife leaving us all with memories of when the mlhh was really active before social media really took off.God speed to Scott as you will be missed but not forgotten. Thanks to everyone taking the time to read this tribute.

Wish all longhairs a merry X-mas and a hairgrowing happy new year

Hi,
It's my everyday style: long hair and suit

Hey all,
Took this photo but forgot to post it -- taken about a month and a half ago. I think my hair is halfway down my back or a little more now... still hoping it will grow more though ;p !
Anywho, happy end to the year and cheers!

Hi,
On July I had participated in a meeting between Aerotrain enthusiasts and I took this photo like I did on previous years. It was also the weekend I meet Anthony.
It was just before the sunset, on July 5th, the sun was just above the horizon and gives this reddish light and this impression that my hair are red.
It's a place where I feel good. It's a vast landscape that gives you an impression of freedom, a place where a high speed train was tested and broke a world speed record.

Hi,
7th July 2024 I had met Anthony, another member of the MLHH. It was our second meeting, the first one was last year (http://mlhh.org/messages/328294.html) and it was a great day.
Thanks again the MLHH.
Hi guys,
I just ordered a supply of Nutrafol for men, hair growth supplement. Ive noticed my hair thinning a bit on the crown of my head. Has anyone else here tried this product? If so, have you noticed your hair growing a bit faster? Some claim this side effect in their review of the product.
Thanks
Kris

Hi all,
Well, here is my 18 month growth update. Sure do wish it was longer, but oh well. The color seems to slowly be going to gray. It used to be so much darker. But I like gray hair so no problem there. I can't wait to see what it looks like at 2 years. Onward and downward guys!
Ted

I couldn't find my old post so I thought I'd show a two year progression from the original

Hey Yall
Coming up on two years of straight growth with no trims

Is anybody else on here a gay longhair or do you know of any places for gay men with long hair? Also for reference, here's how long my hair is! Hoping to grow it down to my belt and, in a perfect world, maybe even longer. Cheers!
This is an article in French (right click on the text and choose the translation option) about a proposal for a law against capillary discrimination. There is no mention of long hair on men for being recruited into jobs. There is a mention of women and some of them feeling they had to change their hairstyle before a job interview. Something to watch... https://www.francetvinfo.fr/replay-radio/c-est-mon-boulot/la-proposition-de-loi-contre-la-discrimination-capillaire-bientot-a-l-assemblee_6400330.html

Hi,
Just a photo of me.
My hair is still growing and reach my waist when wet but looks shorter when dry. Waist length is my goal after twenty years of having hair at shoulder length.
What are your opinions of The Long Hairs and their products. I am not impressed myself.

Hi all,
I don't take photos like I used to, but decided to take one a couple of days ago to see where things are at... at least things (my hair) are still growing! Kind of a relief after a rather dry winter and fears of extra breakage due to it -o- .....
Anywho, I hope all are well and a happy early spring to everyone here :) !
Sincerely,
yoshiki ^_^

Still growing. I'm experimenting with a new look for my facial hair as well.

Greeting Fellow Longhairs !
I just wanted to say hello again since I havent posted on this board in awhile. Its been 5 years now since I decided that, Im a long haired man not a short haired man. Hopefully I will continue to be here more often than not . Cheers to you all on your long hair journeys!
Glinka : )

Hi.
I haven't updated my long hair pics in years....but since I'll turn 65 this weekend, I thought I'd post a recent picture.
Enjoy the summer.
A.D.

Hey all I turned 60 in September and had a Quadruple Bypass in February but Im still here, going back to work in a couple of days.

Hi,
I'll try to post more often some pictures of me.
Happy New Year to all on the MLHH. My own hair is about the same - mid-back terminal length. I went to my neighbour's for some Galette des Rois and his daughter was fascinated by my hair! People here in France are generally discreet and polite.
My sail on a major French river and out to sea last October. I have taken a few selfies.
Anthony
Happy New Year everyone, a new year same old hair!

This weekend I met Anthony who is also a member of the MLHH.
We have common interests for ships/sailing and of course long hair!
Anthony is very friendly, and we have spent the afternoon to discuss ourselves and various topics. It was a great moment of conviviality.
But all this wouldn't have been possible without this website, so a big thanks to the creator who brings together long haired men.

Bit of an update.

Quick update not the best picture.

Hey yall, wanted to post my 18 month update. I just started being able to put it in a low ponytail. Does anyone use a kind of supplement to support hair growth such as DE or something else?

Hey, all. I've been away from here for so long that I can't even remember the name I last posted under, but I wanted to post a current photo since I valued having this community as a resource for many years.
My hair is juuuuust at waist length now following a trim of about four inches. I'm always open to having conversations, so feel free to drop me an e-mail at brightenedboy@gmail.com.

Hi,
This photo was taken on June 20, 2023. It was the weekend I had met Anthony: http://mlhh.org/messages/328294.html.
I took the same photo two years ago at the same place. But there was mud that prevents me to put the camera tripod at the same place in order to have the exact same picture.
Between the two pictures, I hadn't any trim. Hair have grown, but not as much as I expected.

62 and still growing - wonder for how long.

Hey all,
Im at 21 months of growth here with no trims. Im thinking of getting a small trim to clip split ends. My goal is knee length hair :)
Hello,
I was just curious if anyone had any new hair goals? I am currently maintaining the length I have now. I trim about every 6 months.
Darrin

Hello everyone
Wow, I am so impressed to both see new faces but also so many people still here from when I used to be around. That is incredible and it makes me happy.
I have been thinking about updating here with some news, and thought why not then, even if they partially leave me uneasy, but all in all can be of help to someone else.
When it comes to length, I have reached somewhat knee length in the past few months. Knee length happened sort of accidentally. I was dancing for a few years and I guess my hair was getting breakage, and since I stopped it resumed growing. I haven't trimmed it at all since the beginning of covid, which means a few years already, and it got to this length, which I thought was beyond terminal length for me. I will talk about the length later.
A bit over a year ago, I discovered a small, very defined spot in my head with no hair, at the crown. To say the least, I got extremely concerned and stressed. I scheduled with general dermatology right away, and had a very bad experience with a dismissive doctor that told me I was fine but would prescribe me both Finasteride and Minoxidil. I scheduled with a second doctor that barely looked at my scalp but told me I was fine also, and asked if I was taking female hormones because my hair looks like a woman's hair - which was weird to say the least.
I tried to calm down and let another year pass to see if the spot would fill up but it didn't. This year I scheduled with specialized hair clinics and have been to both, and the last one was the best - I did pay a lot of money for this particular appointment.
In this appointment they took a sample of my hair in advance, with root, to analyze in laboratory. The results were good - I don't seem to have any predisposition for male pattern baldness. However, the spot is there, and is scar tissue, but not from an injury I can remember. I will have to do further tests to see what might have caused it, but I was told it could very well be related to stress. It's not very normal to scar, but hopefully this is not something that will spread around. It's a spot the size of a small coin I would say, and it's covered, fortunately, by the upper layers of hair. It shows when I fully part my hair at the middle - as to do double braids for example. This makes me quite sad, but at the same time I'm grateful that it's not a hormonal situation. I will be taking steps to see if there is something else going on and if I need to do anything to protect the hair on my head of course. I do appreciate the difficulty of finding someone who will empathize with you, and for anyone looking for advice on this I strongly recommend a specialized doctor that deals with hair and skin, not just a general dermatologist.
When it comes to the length, I am strongly considering trimming back to about tailbone length, if not slightly above. The ends of my hair are extremely thin now and it makes it impossible to wear it loose at all. Even in a braid it gets cumbersome as the braid gets caught everywhere. I am very conflicted though - the main reason I want to trim is to feel I can USE my hair, live with it, wear it loose. I never really did that because of how protective I've been of it, to the point that I find wearing it loose extremely uncomfortable, just out of lack of habit. On the other hand, I am sometimes complimented by even strangers on how long my braid is. It makes me feel really good, but also knowing that now I am in what's considered an extreme length, and one I never thought I'd be in. It would take me about 4 years to grow back to this length from tailbone and I'm not really sure I would or even could, as I'm also getting older. I really only enjoy my hair when I am combing it in the morning though - otherwise even when I'm washing it just feels too long and thin in the ends. I miss having some fullness and feeling it's beautiful hair, right now it's super long yes, but I don't find that my hair type or the thickness in the ends makes for beautiful knee length hair.
So yes, I'm quite conflicted! But I think I will end up trimming since I think I prefer to be able to enjoy my hair more than having an extreme length, if I think what I'd regret more one day looking back if I didn't have long hair anymore. I find it really tough to trim at all let alone a complete change of length, because as we all know, we get attached to every hard earned inch of growth.
I am uploading a picture taken last July, if I'm not mistaken. My hair looks particularly nice there, I had just came back from swimming in the river and my hair had air dried to its most natural texture.
Thank you for reading me everyone. This forum will always be in my heart as a lot of people I've engaged with here. Believe it or not, I have been married not for two and a half years to someone who I've met through this forum.
So thank you for being here and beings yourselves and keeping this place alive!
Happy growing <3
I shaved my head on July 22 with no plans to regrow my hair. However, I decided to regrow my hair.,
Hello fellow long haired enthusiasts ! It has been a very long time since I posted on this forum. I joined when I was 34 and turned 43 this October. Life has a peculiar way of flying by insanely fast the older you get it seems. I have made it a mission to start my hair growth journey yet again after growing and cutting several times over the years. I am now a stay at home father helping my wife with her business, and feel no pressure of any sort to cut my hair again this time around. It has been about 10 months since I last cut my hair and I had a short buzz cut then. So glad to be back and am inspired to see so many people still posting their own personal journeys. RIP Ken in Sf and Bill :( Will add a photo in my next post very shortly. Thanks guys !

I just found this guy with long curls. Josh Quaye. The video portrays his hair beautifully and it really suits him!

Greeting to all mlhh members and users both past and present. It was recently brought to my attention that a long time member, and hyperboard moderator, known originally as "Urban Cowboy" but currently as "Ken In SF" has past away and is no longer with us.It was a shocker when I was told of this.I have no details on the cause of his passing but for now it time to remember the good times we all had here when Ken was active on the board.I had the good fortune of not only working with Ken as a fellow moderator, in addition to sharing messages on the board, but having met with Ken on my many trips to California over the years.Attached is a photo taken of Ken and myself together during one of my west coast trips many years ago.I know many of you have likely interacted with Ken at some point especially if you were active since 2005.Ken always had a great attitude when interacting with visitors to this site as he truly will be missed by many. The hyperboard had its heyday back in the early 2000s but It's my intention to keep it alive as long as you guys want to be a part of the community. For know let's all remember Ken an what he's meant to so many who've entered this site. You will never be forgotten Ken.Thank you for taking the time to read my statement.

Hi, a quick update after a long time. Thank you. Lance

Hey all,
I'm not sure how long I've been going at the second run on growing out my hair now... years I know... but at least this time around I'm taking better care of it and I think it's been paying off :) . There was a MLHH user who emailed me a couple of days ago - about a photo I posted a couple of years ago back (when I admittedly used too much leave-in conditioner for that photo ~o~; ) and thought to myself -- hey, it's been a while ;p !... so to that user, thanks for that and the kind compliments as well ^^ !... it's been too long since my last post here :) . Anywho, hope everyone is doing fine and happy autumn here soon!
Cheers!
Sincerely,
yoshiki ^_^

This is my 15 month mark of growing with no trims. Curious question: I often drive my jeep with the top down letting the wind blow my hair everywhere. Is this bad for the ends?

Im 38. Enjoying my natural colour while I have it. What do you think?

Just one of those let it loose days
How are guys on this site handling hair loss?
Even though my hair is now all grey and is still long i'm noticing the effects of aging. The length isn't as long as it used to be, the ends aren't lasting as long they used to and the hair line is receeding.
Is there anything that will help the hair or is it better to bite the bullet and cut the hair?
I always said i would never cut my hair no matter how much hair loss i suffered, but now i'm not sure that is a good idea. I love having long hair but I hate how the hair looks now.
Can't believe this guy grew his beautiful Hawiian hair for 13 years and just up and decided to shave it all off with balding clippers. It is beyond my comprehension. 55 inches of gorgeous long hair gone in seconds. It gives me nightmares just thinking about it. Why on earth would someone do such a thing?
Watch his video, but be forewarned, it is disturbing.

Hi!
I haven't sent a picture in what seems like years. As I will be turning 65 this weekend, I thought I'd share a picture taken recently.
A.D.

Just an update since my last post about 6 months ago. Coming along well ! Take care guys :)

First time poster. Ive been growing my hair for 1 year Im just getting out of the awkward stage. Looking forward to seeing how much growth I get throughout the summer

Hello all. I am new to posting on the board but have always checked out the progress of the guys on here.
I just turned 66 and am checking to see how I can improve on my hair. All suggestions are appreciated!!
Hi,
I've found this podcast about the MLHH.
They talk about the website and its topics for one hour. A post of mine are also in theirs comments and Erik's blog.
I warn you they laugh every ten seconds it's very annoying.
Hi,
I heard this on the radio: there is currently an exhibition about hair in Paris named "Des cheveux et des poils" (hair & hairs). It was an interview of the director of the exhibition, who says it's the first exhibition of this kind about hair.
It's not dedicated to long haired men, but hair & hairs in general on men and women. It explores various things: hairstyles through history, hair in society, artists who use hair. Hair related stuff: professions, old objects, tools.
They seem to haven't explored Internet and its long haired men communities; It could have been fun if they talk about the MLHH!
You can read the description on the official website of the exhibition (in English):

Hi(gh)!
Just discovered DALL-E 2 (https://openai.com/product/dall-e-2)... and fed my favorite swamp gypsy dream into its input line:
"A shirtless moustached man with waist-long black hair wading waist-deep in black mud"
...and this is what I got! WOW!!!

I never see any fellow longhaired men do pigtails/ two ponytails with their hair. Could you guys show me it on yourselves?
Thanks
Hey all, Been a few years since I wandered by. Unfortunately I am losing my hair on the top. Over 70 now and I guess thats what you get when you get older. It is disturbing to cut my hair as I have had long hair for years. A beard also, which pays the bills at Christmas Time, ho ho ho.
Just want some opinons on cutting off me hair. Have other done a do it yourself cut? Would you just leave it till your croak? What do you think?
Thanks for any input....Onslow
You may have seen these two guys already, but in case you haven't, you really should take a look at their many TIKTOK videos. Both of these guys have the most beautiful knee length hair you'll see anywhere. I praise both of them, and I hope they continue growing their gorgeous manes.

By the way, does anyone know anything about Hairfreaky. He hasn't posted anything on his Facebook page in years.

Hi Everyone ,
Here is my most recent hair pic. I may try to take a better one later. I am due to get my ends trimmed this month. I get a trim every 6 months for split ends and uneven growth,

Hi(gh)!
Time for a new picture... at least it is not obvious how fat I'm still!

Hello. I have wondered back to the board after a few years. Am 65 now and proud to still have a good head of hair. You all inspire me, so I will continue the journey.

You may have heard about the ChatGPT AI lately, this advanced AI that make news headlines.
On Reddit there is a simulated discussion with AI generated posts only, and it asks "How do you keep your hair from growing faster?" and says that it is growing its hair but wants to prevent them to grow too fast. There are some contradictions, but don't forget that it's a computer program.
The discussion is about hair care, and it's here: https://www.reddit.com/r/SubSimulatorGPT2/comments/zrs12g/how_do_you_keep_your_hair_from_growing_faster/
Explanation of how it works: https://www.reddit.com/r/SubSimulatorGPT2/
Subsidiary question: is ChatGPT a man or a woman?
Hi all, have not posted in ages but I do drop in from time to time, good to see some new people and some old members as well.
It's nearly 5 yrs since my last cut now, sitting just on belt length. Someone at the shops today told me they couldn't believe it took under 5 yrs to grow this long today but it's true. I guess I'm lucky with the hair genes and lucky it's still growing well at 45.
Hopefully the photobucket link works.
Hope everyone is staying safe,
Cheers,
Matt.

Hi, I thought I would post a picture of my hair when dry. Thanks. Lance

Hi guys,
I reached 11 years this year and I made a short video. I mainly trim all the length I gained in the past year x) But I really want to improve the ends and thickness and I think the difference kind of shows. I enjoy having long hair and I'm grateful that people accept me with long hair and support me online and in real life.
The 10 year update was from 2021, I only posted it recently.
I hope you are well!
Best,
PhilipZ

Hi Guys, apologies I have been absent for awhile. I am moving to Sydney from Cape Town in South Africa. I will be looking for a job in Sydney as an urban designer/ architect. I will also look for jobs anywhere in Australia. I will take whatever opportunities come my way. I am 59 years, so that could count against me. Plus being a newcomer. Currently, I have been working for myself, so my hair hasn't been an issue. I have been growing it out for more than 10 years I think. Its slow progress, but I think still growing. My dilemma has been if I should cut it for the job search in Australia or not. I have decided not to cut it. Just neaten it up a bit (trim the ragged ends) and then tie it back. Also, dress very neatly. But, continue to grow it. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you. Lance
Website of my architectural work. Also painting and sketching. So I've had hip length hair for some time now- started growing it out around age 20 and I'm turning 25 very soon. In the past few months though I've been seeing my hairline recede, currently sitting around a Norwood 2 but I think it will progress further. This was not entirely unexpected since my mom's dad and brothers both balded, but still sucks.
I guess the reason I'm posting- what do I even do now? Many of you can probably relate to me on that long hair carries special meaning for you, and that it is an integral part of your identity and confidence (it certainly is for me). I put a lot of time and love into my hair because I really love having it long, and cutting it off would just devastate me- almost like losing someone close to you, in a way. But at the same time there is no way to prevent balding from taking its course, and I don't really have an option.
It just feels so cruel to me that something I love so dearly is being taken away from me. It's hard for me not to get depressed when I go out in public and see other people (usually women, who are very lucky in that they don't have to deal with balding) with hair the same length as me, but without the Norwood 2... it feels so unfair. I know that life is meant to be unfair but this is just something I never thought I'd have to experience. Growing my hair long gave me so much confidence in my life because I really do love how it looks on me. I can't let go of it now... if I was older (maybe 40/50ish) I would probably be more willing to part but at this age feels cruel.
Thanks for reading and being supportive. I hope none of you have to go through what I am going through, nobody deserves this.
Hi,
I open this thread to share our tricks to stay cool with long hair when temperatures rising.
Where I live (Bordeaux in France) I suffer from extreme heat since June, it breaks all records! The city
streets (with of course a lot of concrete!) becomes the hell on Earth with temperatures of 40 - 45°C (104 - 113°F) for several days. Luckily I live in the countryside which are cooler than the city, but I work in the city.
Here is what I'm doing to avoid overheat:
- No loose hair. It's the worst thing to do when temperatures are hot. Hair cover most of your head, and they are an insulation that prevents your head to evacuate heat.
- Ponytail. I find that's not optimal because it covers the back of your head. Moreover, hair is in contact with sweat, which isn't good for hair.
- Braid. Hair doesn't touch too much the back of your head, and it's thinner than a ponytail, so the back of your head can evacuate heat efficiently.
- Bun. I think that's the best solution. Hair doesn't touch any part of your head except the scalp of course. But I never succeed to do a beautiful one.
- Water spray can also help to chill you, but if hydrometry is high it's inefficient and even worse!
If you have any tricks, share it!

Hey all,
It's been a while. Was riding my motorcycle out in the sandhills of Nebraska this last weekend when an older lady behind the counter at a COOP gas station had a fascination with my hair. Also been getting a lot of comments online from folks recently. I never show my face on the www, so most of the photos on the web are from behind (or with my face obscured). They (the online folks) have begun to argue with me that I'm a lady -- when I'm not... so that got me to wondering where things stood on "the journey" (hair growing journey) as of late. Been half a year or so since I've taken a real photo like this one here (attached)... so here it is ;p . Was pretty surprised to see that the length has finally hit mid-back -- which is a new milestone for me :) ... guess taking better of my hair does pay off in the long run xD .....
Anywho, hope all of you are well, groovin' along in life and are enjoying this new renaissance of long-haired guys that I/we see all the time now ^_^ . Guess that we've all been men of long-haired pioneers - est. since the late '80s hahah (depending on age, fashion and period at time... some fashions a lot more short-lived than others and the late '80s - at least for me, seems like the real last time when short hair was a big mainstay, really ^_~ .....)~
Sincerely,
yoshiki :)
This Asian guy has the most beautiful hair that just about reaches his knees. Check out his YouTube videos. His name is Masashi Yokono or 横野真史. Just google either, but 横野真史 seems to have more videos.

I was just minding my own business at work, when the girls jumped me and gave me a braid 🤣

here i am with a almost a 3 yr gap between
hair cuts. apr'18 to
i cant wait to get my ponytail back.

Hi,
Yesterday I went to barber shop for my beard. I haven't trim it for one year and a half. I was hoping to have a nice beard, but I don't have a very dense beard.
Hair is still growing, the tip of my ponytail start to reach my waist.
During the Bordeaux (France) fun fair, I noticed an increasing of long haired man. I also had noticed the same thing during the previous fair in October 2021. In the crowd, long haired men are quite common, and it's a matter of seconds to see one.
The most common hairstyle is the bun or top knot, with some variations like undercut. Others have loose hair or a classic ponytail.
Most of them have shoulders length hair and few have them longer than that. I haven't seen someone with longer hair than me.
I also notice the same trend in ads and various illustrations pictures (magazines, websites) it's not rare to see a man with long hair or a bun.
I don't know what is the trend in other countries, but it seems that men with long hair is becoming something normal.

Hi everyone,
I have a video from the 10 year mark (last year in June) and I thought it would be cool to share it. I had my last hair cut in 2011 and I think that I found this forum back in 2008, 2009, doing research about hair care and getting inspiration. And now I have butt length hair and posting about it here feels surreal, haha :D
The length hasn't changed much. I have to trim a lot in the past 2 -3 years. Also, maybe I'm approaching terminal length.
Best wishes to you!
Phil

Hello,
I found the time to upload a recording I made in October 2020. It was autumn, it was a nice day, I'm glad I went out, because 1 week later, most of the leaves were fallen down :D
I hope you're all well! Keep it growing
Cheers,
Phil

Im having a hard time deciding what my goal length should be. Here, 3 more inches, 6 inches? What do you think?

I have been at terminal length for some time, but I have found a way to take good photos. I have a web cam on a tripod and I can do a rear-view selfie like that. It's in a bit of a mess, but that's how I am. Anthony
ᎣᏏᏲ! Greetings! I am back at the 3 year mark of regrowing my hair out (again). I cut my hair because I was around modern Native Americans and they were thrown off a bit by the hair. Apparently missionaries divided tribes and told the converts to the white man's religion not to associate with traditional people. Traditional people have long full hair in some tribes. I am planning on growing it to terminal length. It is long enough that it is again past my chest. I am not sure what length it will end up being. In my culture men can have long hair. It is not considered effeminate. So, on-wards and downwards. Hope all are well. Let me know how y'all are doing and ask any questions you might have. I am fairly open about my culture.

Hi all. It's been a very long time since I've been here. I was a small part of this community around 2008-2011, at which time I grew my hair out to nearly hip length. My life circumstances changed and there came a point where being a longhair felt more like a chore than part of my identity, so I ended up cutting it short in 2012. I was happy with the results and have kept it that way since. However, I look back fondly on my longhair days and for no particular reason today decided to see what's going on at the MLHH. It's good to see it is still here and looks exactly the way I remember from over a decade ago.
I was sorry to see that Bill passed away some years ago. It seems that Hairball may be the only one from that time who is still here. I included a few old pictures of my hair in the hopes that it might jog some memories. It was nostalgic for me to peruse the users' directory and see some familiar faces like Absalom, DavidN, Ken in SF, Nuttidave, Justin, and Joao David.
Looking back, my longhair journey was a transformative period for me as a young adult, and I feel as though I grew just as much on the inside of my head as on the outside. I learned a lot about acceptance and tolerance, and although I am now a mere 30-year-old shorthair, I have not forgotten the kind and helpful folks I encountered here during those years. To think that a small community in a quiet little corner of the internet could have made such a lasting impression on me!
I extend my gratitude to the MLHH and hope it continues to be a place where longhairs from all walks of life can get advice and be part of a community. My best wishes to all of you.
Hail from the Great White North,
Peter

Hey guys! Just wondering who's all around the DC area? Would love to meet some fellow longhairs!
Also I should probably share what my hair looks like lol. This is the length it was aroubd 2-4 months before it was (forcibly) cut back to my shoulders (If you want to ask specifics, I'm an open book). Goal length is still waist length or longer.
Has anyone experienced thinner hair since Covid? I feel like my hair has gotten thinner.
Darrin

I've actually only had one haircut in the past 8 1/2 years, but that was about three years ago when I donated it to Wigs for Kids. Never really intended to grow it out again, but am glad I did. I've had several trims and need another, but hope to get to waist length before the next one, then keep it there until the ends thicken up a bit. Then who knows? I just turned 50 so hopefully I have a few more years until it hits terminal length!
I thought I would post a progress report.
My hair is still long, a couple inches below
nipple length. At age 67 the hair is all grey, there is some receeding of the hair line, and the hair seems to have thinned out. At this point I don't know how long i will be able to
keep the long hair long. I also stopped shaving and grew a beard.
On the personal side i'm still with the company that i've been
working for 37 years. As I've mentioned previously my wife of 34 years died of COVID a year ago,my father in law died of COVID three months earlier.
I'm still in the civil war group although our department commander died of COVID last year.
I'm still involved with our local science fiction groups.
Triped over this on the internet. Oh the memories..
Memories of times past
Hi all,
Havent had a trim for 8 months. Do you think I should trim or keep growing? Thanks for being here.
Cary
MLHH turned 25 today!
The very first message was posted on January 22nd 1997. A so long longevity for a community website is not common.
I wish a long life to the MLHH.
I wish also thanks this website for existing because I had found a supporting community who are like me and I don't feel alone with my long hair.

Happy Southern Hemisphere Spring to everybody! (Which means: to those of us like me that live in the Northern Hemisphere, "Happy Fall!")
These pics of me outside of my deer fenced rose garden that I take care of at work were taken in May of 2014, I think... My friend Bill Choisser was still alive at the time, and it was a gorgeous spring day when he and his partner Larry visited me where I work (in San Francisco's suburban East Bay town of Castro Valley).
Growing on the entranceway arch above my head is the beautiful apricot-colored French Noisette rose, "Crepuscule", along with the purple Clematis vine 'Polish Spirit'. Besides growing a lot of fragrant Heirloom and English (AKA David Austin) roses inside, I'm also very fond of various companion plants, like: Lavender, Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea), Salvias, Penstemon, and earlier in the spring, lots of Narcissus (Daffodils)...
Of course, it should go without saying that LONG HAIR always fits in perfectly in any garden or outdoor setting (LOL)!!
- Ken

Hey all,
An update photo on my hair. Getting longer... maybe getting longer... still growing, at least. Anywho, happy holidays friends and onto a hopefully better 2022 :) .
Sincerely,
yoshiki ^_^
