Today I went into sign the paperwork and the boss said “I do want to say that we are a professional environment I want to ask about your hair.“ I said “do you have an issue with it?” He said I don’t have an issue but we do want to be professional I don’t know if you want to cut it. I don’t know how attached you are to it.” I responded “very” and he said “oh then I won’t bother you about it.” So I’m glad that part is behind us but it still bothers me that this is the year 2020 and people still make an issue of men with long hair. So I just needed to rant about that and I found this board.
I've been working in the field for 34 years now at the same company and have long hair. The boss (who died a few years ago at the age of 97) never complained about it. Also when i come in to work i'm usually wearing cut off shorts, jeans, or overalls. No complaints ever.
