I measured my hair growth rate years ago and recently on the sides of my head to be 1/2" a month. My brother (who has never had long hair so I'm not sure that his measurements were for more than a 4 month period) says his hair growth rate is 1" a month. I did also measure my beard growth rate over 6 months to be 2/3"-3/4" but I'm not sure how that relates to my scalp.
I've also read from Bill's longhair pages and searched around and saw that 1/2" a month is typical. Has anybody ever heard of 1" a month other than this post?
