: I've known too many guys over the years who have dealt with this and yes, he can force you to cut it. I've known guys whose parents actually did cut their hair for them or dragged them down to the barber shop or even threw them out of the house.

: Wait until a year later when you're at college and can then be free to grow your hair.
I would be respectful but I would keep growing my hair. Most parents give up eventually.
