Actually, I have heard the term "Freedom 55" a number of times, and it just means the freedom to retire at 55 if one wishes. The decision to retire was completely my choice, and I am fortunate enough to have a good pension.

: Yes, early retirement is great if you can afford to do it.My brother in California chose to retire at 55 a couple years ago. I do applaud your decision and it certainly is paying off being your getting to do the things you want to do and are still able.Is "Freedom 55" an option you were given or is that just your term? Anyway I'm very happy for you and it would be great to meet again especially if you take a trip to NYC. Cheers my friend.
