: 10 inches is a lot, and I'm just not buying the "sitting and not standing". But I'm curious as to why you requested 4 inches? That's 4 to 6 months of growth. Are you trying to keep it at a specific length? A trim should only involve the 1/4 to 1/2 in ends of the hair, unless you have worn and/or split ends. I've been trimming/cutting my own hair for nearly 20 years, saves me money, and I get what I want done. Personally, I would not go back to this stylist, 10 inches isn't just a simple mistake, that's enough to donate to a charity for wigs. I'd find another stylist, and be very clear as to how much you want trimmed.

Hi Carol,

I want to thank you and everyone for your input. I wanted to trim 4 inches just to shorten the length a little. I get my hair trimmed twice a year, and have been maintaining a length. I usually trim 3 inches every six months.

James
