My mane has been growing for almost three years now - 26 inches long. Get loads of comments - mostly negative from men and women alike but also some positive - mostly from men! I can't decide if I should finally submit my mane to the barbers clippers or let it grow to my ass which has been my goal all along. Your opinions will be most valued.
You have an outstanding mane, evidence that you are not a sheep. Do not let other peoples' insecurities dictate your actions. Do not forsake your own goals simply because some people are uncomfortable in the presence of self-confidence and authenticity.
Best regards,
Val
Thanks a lot for your kind words and opinion - Means a lot to me.
Best regards
Goldenmane
You're one of the lucky ones whose hair stays nicely thick and full all the way to end at that length. When I had mine that long it was way sparser in the last several inches. If mine was like yours I'd be reluctant to wear it any shorter for sure.
I think it would be fun to try it to waist length or so. You can always cut it if you want. I don't think you'll find anybody around here who thinks there is a "too long for a guy" length, though. I think the negative folks are just envious. Remember Dr. Seuss: "Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
If you are getting negative comments about that gorgeous head of hair of yours it is out of sheer jealousy from anyone who is critical of it or you...
Come on! You have got a beautiful mane - The only reason you should cut your hair is if you want to - no other reason - but I sure hope you keep it long. Resist. Be strong!
Hi Goldenmane,
You have a truly outstanding mane, of which you have every right to be proud.
I am shocked that you are receiving as many negative comments as you have been getting, since I would think that in your case, the positive comments should far outweigh the negative ones.
Whatever you do, please ignore those naysayers, and keep growing that wonderful mane!
Keep it growing,
David
Negative comments about hair as stunning as what you have? Unreal! Me thinks the people that are making these comments are jealous. No way would I cut to appease these very rude morons with insulting things to say. They are not worth it. And "if" you did cut, what would be next on their list for you to change? Bottom line: what puts them in such an insulting seat of judgement? Yes, by all means keep the hair growing to whatever length "you" have decided for yourself that you would like.

Dear Mr. Goldenmane,
Your hair is WAAAY too long for a guy. In fact, I find it totally SHOCKING!!!!! As you can tell by my attached pic of myself, I only approve of buzz-cuts and other traditional male short haircuts. Just follow my example and cut your hair to the same degree of "short", and I'm sure all of those negative comments will end.... Or, if they don't end, at least you'll have a big smile on your face that you would have successfully annoyed those jerks (LOL)!!

Dear Mr. Goldenmane,
My honest opinion is to keep your hair because that mane is about as perfect as you can get. I cannot understand even one negative comment as what is their to complain about? It's neat, clean, and of superb quality. My take of those who criticize are dripping with jealousy. They literally must have puddles at their feet! Welcome to the community and please stop in again my friend.Cheers

You hit the nail on the head, they are jealous.
Your hair looks fantastic. Let it grow, let it grow, let it grow. Ignore the naysayers. The only one who can say your hair
is too long is you. It's nobody elses business.
When I started growing my hair long in 1964 every time
I got a negative comment/complaint I took it as an incentive to
grow my hair longer and keep it long.
Hair that is as nice as yours should ONLY be long.
IMHO.
Chris
Ignore the silly comments and carry on growing.
Nothing unusual in them so a firm put down is a useful thing to have ready.
You have great hair. Down to your ass (or longer) sounds good to me!
I'm sorry you live where other people feel it is appropriate to police others appearance.
Hair like yours inspires those of us who didnt get there yet!
Keep it!...please
I can't decide if I should finally submit my mane to the barbers clippers or let it grow to my ass which has been my goal all along. Your opinions will be most valued.
I think your hair looks awesome, myself. Have been growing my hair for about four years now. It's about an inch and a half above the waist. I'm 62 years old, retired, and am not about to take any crap from anybody because they don't happen to like the length that I've worked hard to maintain for four years! Have you ever thought what would happen if you turn the tables on your critics and started dissing THEIR hair?! Hey, forget the naysayers and do what you want. It's a head of hair, not the cure for cancer or the next new step in rocket science. I think those negative people will survive no matter what you do.
Steve
Hey Goldenmane,
I think that you have an awesome mane. I would not cut it because of some people's insecurities. It take a real guy with testosterone to withstand the negative barbs of others about his hair length and groom himself in a way that is authentic with himself. I would you suggest that you grow your hair not down to your ass but allow your hair to grow to terminal length. The next time someone addresses a negative comment toward you because of the length of your hair ask them, "Why do you feel you have to say that?".
Your long haired bro,
Raymond
No such thing. Your hair can never be too long.
I should mention that I had knee length hair in the 1980s,
I found it too long to take care of avoid damage. So I stuck with waist length after that.
Now that it is 2013 I'm itching to get my hair back to knee length and keep it there. (I'm not sure I can at the age of 59 but i'm going to try for it.)
But ultimmately your hair can never bee too long.

Your hair is absolutely gorgeous. No length is too long for a guy. Mine reaches my knees. It is hair, and hair has no gender.
