A frustrated long haired boi found peace of mind yesterday when his hairsticks finally STAYED IN!!!
WOW, Tristram, cool hairsticks there, --- they look just like chop-sticks!!... In fact, gimme those for just a minute, would you? I hope you don't mind if I sit down and have a little Chinese food right now, as I'm getting HUNGRY (lol)!!
- Ken in San Francisco (the Chinese food capital of the US!)
They ARE chopsticks!!! XD My father went on a business trip to Korea, and brought them back for me. They're way too nice to eat with though (they have an ivory section at the top) so I decided to use them as hairsticks instead. =P NOT DISHWASHER SAFE!!!
Probably not the best way to wash your hair, anyway.
NOT DISHWASHER SAFE!!!
LMAO!!!!! Ironically enough, I could probably fit in a dishwasher!
So you're really, really tiny and your hair's actually only six inches long?
I am small!....And besides =P I never said I'd be comfortable.
Looks good. Why do you think they were falling out before? Hair knot not tight enough?
Don't forget about them in confined spaces! I know I could not sit in my car with the extra height those give.
Thanks! My hair doesn't hold anything very well, except hairsticks! Kind of strange that the thing I would least expect to tame my hair, is the one thing that now works every time.
When I first tried it I put all my hair into a bun, and for some reason when I tried to put the second one through it all fell out. It holds just fine with one though. =)
As for the height...I'm not incredibly tall anyways =P but I will keep that in mind!
Wow. Dude, you have seriously thick hair. Awesome.
Thankees ^.^ it can be a hassle sometimes, but I love it to deaht!
Hi Tristram,
It is great to see you posting again, and what a fabulous thick head of hair you are blessed with. Congratulations on this new milestone!
Keep it growing,
David
Thanks a bunch! =) Maybe when I have somme new pictures I'll post an actual update.
A great picture and an amazing head of hear and looks great with the sticks in.
Cheers,
John.B
Thankees! ^.^ I'm lovin' he new look! It's very convenient...I think I'll try using a pencil when school starts. ;)
Wow Tristram...........is that ever amazing and your long hair is just so great! Are you EVER lucky. Great seeing you back here. ALWAYS of the greatest inspiration.
Justin~
That looks very tight,Tristram;I can only hope to be able to do one of those one day(most likely not)XD.You have been a great inspiration to me,by the way.Keep practicing with those sticks,as they look really good in your hair. You should try wearing those when off to some japanese or chinese restaurant.Take care ;).
Thanks! It doesn't have to be super long to use hairsticks =) just look up how to do it on youtube or something. I'm so glad to hear that I've inspired you!!! And trust me ;) I'll be wearing them to my next sushi outting. ^.^
Thanks again <3
Thanks so much! =) I'm glad to hear it's so inspiring! Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. =D
Hi Tristram. Looks like you made a Chinese bun. I believe it took you many tries to put your hair up like that. It looks great. When my hair gets long enough, I may want to give that a try.
By the way, on a different subject, you probably had not read the news yet. My cousin had been shot and killed a few days back. He lived in California. He was out dealing drugs at night (without his parents knowing) and one of the guys he knew had shot him.
Matthew aka Regardless
It did take a couple tries to get the hang of it =) but now it's pretty easy.
I'm so sorry to hear about your cousin >.< I hope your family is recovering...that must have been pretty traumatic for everyone involved.
Yay! Looking great, as always... ;)
-James
Why thankee =)
Wow Tristram you have so much hair you can't even get it all in the picture! Glad you got the style you wanted to work. Great update.
Thanks a bunch ^.^ I'll do a proper update when I have new pics.
nice! keep it up
Thanks!!! ^.^ you too!
Well, I've had food in my beard (when I had one), food in my hair, but never eating utensils!:) The style looks great Tristram and your hair is lookin' fantastic, as always.
Keep it flowin'
Bruce
LOL! Thanks so much ^.^ you should try it for sure...it's convenient!
Very interesting and exotic hair style Tristram. Cool!
Isn't that the way the ancient samurai's wore theirs?
Paul
Thanks ^.^ I believe it is!
They stayed in and look great as does the mane.
Kevin
Thanks! =) Much easier now, I can do it without looking.
Those hair sticks are just too cool. I wish I had thicker hair so I could pull that look off. :-)
you don't really need THICK hair =P just enough for a pony tail. Thanks a bunch!
Wow!I just love them thar sticks!!You have such an inspirational head of hair to die for:)Wish I knew how to do that as it looks so cool!Maybe you should host a hairstick installation video my friend:)Cheers
Mark
=D I love'em!!!! Thanks so much =) maybe I'll do that vid if I ever find time, although I'm sure it must exist already....hmmm....maybe youtube has one!

You have a great mane Tristram. It appears to be well past your waist, but difficult to tell in that photo. Assuming that you are about 5'9" tall would mean that your hair is a good 2 feet long or possibly even longer.
The hair sticks look great. I have not figured out how to use them in my hair yet.
One word of caution, be careful not to jab your neck with those. This can happen when getting in or out of a car, for example.
I have a beautiful peace sign hair fork and have not figured that out either. I will include a photo of it. It is made from cow bone. Please excuse the keyboard dust, it falls out of my hair and beard in copious amounts.
Anyway, you have fantastic hair.
Scott
Thanks a bunch =) although, my stage experience has brought with it many a disturbing hair-piece =P so I'm pretty concious of what's going on around my head. I think the one where I was told I might burst into flames kinda prepared me for a lifetime of possibly fatal up-dos.
They're really easy to use =) a couple hours practice and it'll be a breeze.
The peace sign is lovely ^.^ I hope you figure out how to use it.
Normally I dont say this about guys but your hair looks really pretty! [ahem no homo]
How long have you been growing it out?
Thanks ^.^ that's nice of you! I think I need a trim though... (Don't worry, I'd have played dumb anyways ;) )
I've been growing my hair for about...4 years now I think. It really doesn't seem that long lol.
Thanks again!
What a FABOO pic! Nice chopsticks, definitely too nice to be eating with. Clearly for decorative purposes. I have a pair I got in Chinatown, NYC when I was 8 yo, during a Girl Scout trip. Holy cripes, them chopsticks are now 40 yo!!! They are a dark maroon lacquer finish wood, with insets of different colors of Mother-of-Pearl. Like yours, definitely not dishwasher safe.
You definitely have a great head of hair. THe blessings of youth is in your favor. It looks so good on you, how long do you think you will go? I have a terrible time with buns, I think disability is part of it, it's hard to get every hair in place before pain/fatigue sets in. Much easier to tail or braid my hair. Since braiding is familiar to me, I can do it fairly quickly without any trouble.
Great update. You will inspire a lot of newbies.
Your hairsticks sound beautiful!!! I loooove Chinatown! =) so many interesting shops and trinkets. Really good food too....
Thanks a bunch for all the nice things you said ^.^ that was really sweet and nice to hear! Yeaa...buns can be difficult...I've never really used them until now, just pony tails.
Thanks again!
<3
Beautiful!
The hair sticks look good with that nice hair of yours

Occasional lurker here, pardon the late post. As a fellow fan of hairsticks, I recently ran across some that are curved like that of a corkscrew. They hold pretty well, but as my previous straight sticks were a different material, I cannot fully speak to their claim of a better grip. Link included below, if you're interested. (And my apologies for the blatant advertising.)
