In certain subcultures, long hair is a huge plus. In a goth club, for instance, some guys can feel discriminated against if their hair is too short, whereas long hairs may easily have girls by the dozen. Really, don't expect too much from conservative people! There must be other options in your city. IF not, you should seriously consider moving to a more liberal place. By the way, congratulations on your beautiful hair, dude!
