Most of the regulars on here venture off topic from time to time. This is how we all get to know one another, and we consider that an important part of community building. The "official stance" is in Item 19 of the General FAQ.
As for religion, to the extent that religions take a position on hair or beard length or styles on men, of course, that is on topic.
