Having more hair makes your head look bigger, because your hair is seen as part of your head. This makes your body look smaller in comparison.

Shaping your hair and beard can affect how your face, head, and neck areas are sensed. You can correct for an unusually shaped head, a long neck, a large or small chin, protruding ears, etc., by growing enough hair that you have something to work with in the trimming endeavor. You shape, of course, to make your combined head and hair mass to yield a more average-looking shape.
