I can understand your need to get trims to even your hair out and make it look better but try to go easy on it so you can maximise your length. My friend was a longhair with very fine/thin hair and he had the same problem as you described, namely frizzyness and limpness of the hair. Maybe try to cut back on the shampooing and use more conditioner?
I water rinse my hair most days, but my hair is thick and curly.
It must be exciting to finally look and feel like a real LONG HAIRED MAN! Keep up the great results.
